Our son is named "Samuel" because of the Bible verse, "...And she called his name Samuel, saying, Because I have asked him of the Lord." (1st Samuel 1:20).
Like Hannah in the book of Samuel, I too, was barren and could not conceive. Like Hannah, I too prayed to the Lord for a child. And like Hannah, the Lord sent us a son.
We naturally called his name, Samuel...meaing, "heard by God". We were and we give the Lord thanks for that every time we say Sam's name. -Jenny
