LOL!!!! Yes, but I meant that I'd love to be a published author as in actually getting paid for an article. I just submitted an article to my favorite parenting magazine but they said they had too many on that topic.

I'd love to work part-time as a freelance writer on the topics of homeschooling, attachment parenting, and natural living.

I'm long-winded too!

Um...Jan---You ARE published!lol you're an editor here, right?I was just looking at your Natural Living section - cool!!

And I'm glad you posted twice, you told more about yourself - went into more depth - which I loved reading....and about your post being long...ohboy i'm in trouble if we're counting words...if I were a Native American I'm reasonably sure my name would be Long-Winded.

I am a travel agent...I think thats pretty obvious. I got into it because i liked to travel and love the great discounts. My travel business is based online so I am able to spend more time with my partner and child.
So it works and the income is unbeliveable!

I am a farmer's wife, and living my dream!!! I help hubby when needed (which isn't often enough since we are farming with his dad and our son), keep house, cook, clean, do catering occasionally, keep the farm books, garden, have a huge lawn. Youngest daughter is an animal nut, so I have bottle fed the runt pigs she rescues from the barn, bottle fed her pet coon, while she is in school. It's all life on the farm!

I had the same reaction to daycare you did, Jan--I wanted to be the one to witness my daughter's every tiny bit of progress.

Michelle, you may have the hardest job of all. My hat is off to you

Pondlady Jan (two Jans!), your work sounds so satisfying, too--and to work with water...seems to me that would be ultimately soothing.

Sara, welcome to the writing world--that's my world, too.

Barbara

You raise such an interesting question in my mind, CD--I'm assuming you mean by "net" the Internet. The whole issue of being online and existing in this virtual world absolutely fascinates me, and it literally does feel different from our "meatspace" existences, doens't it? It does to me. The Internet still feels like a great frontier, where we can explore and try out different methods of being, and I think we can learn a lot about ourselves and others here.

One of the things I love the most is we can interact even though we're a whole world away from each other geographically and might never meet any other way. Yet here we are sharing our thoughts, being ourselves (some of us!) and enriching our lives by this unique experience.

There are so many great stories on what people do. I enjoyed reading each one. I worked most of my adult life in Child Support Enforcement until I became burnt out and decided to pursue my dream, and at the ripe old age of 37 graduated from nursing school. I'm a registered nurse and work in a large hospital caring for patients who have had gastric bypass surgery. I love helping people. I also have a home business in the health and wellness industry because I don't know how long my body will hold out in the nursing field so I thought I needed a back up plan. That's me in a nutshell.

I'm an American 50ish woman living in Moscow, Russia. I'm a groundskeeper. I sweep, mow, prune, haul, and mostly--shovel snow. Lots and lots and lots of snow.

I'm an ex-Teamster. Spent 15 years driving for a high profile *parcel delivery* company.

But now I'm getting too old for all of this, the knees are complaining, and I have no idea what an ex-truck-driving-groundskeeper does in later years.

Any bright ideas?

Hi! I'm new to this discussion group. But the topic is so interesting.

Have you thought about teaching your skills to others? Maybe by word of mouth or adverts. I'll bet you've got a pretty big social/career network with all of your experience.

How about focussing on what you'd like to share and then printing up some biz cards? I discovered a site called www.vistaprint.com where you can even get them printed for free. I just did some postcards for my voiceover promotion(they weren't free though because I uploaded a logo to put on them), and am waiting for them to be delivered. But, I've seen some of their free biz cards and they are very nice and professional looking.

I am a voiceover actress, just working on getting my career established here in England.
I also design beaded jewelry, kiddie kits (beading kits for children), cards, etc. and sell them on my little eBay shop along with some other goodies. I'm making a few sales, and I enjoy interacting with the buyers. They often have great stories to tell behind why they're ordering a particular item, or how the item was enjoyed by the recipient. And,I just got a commission to make some of the kiddie kits for a local store. so that's quite exciting as well!

i also have a passion for japanese culture, having studied japanese for 9 years. i love it. when i lived in the States, i worked at a Japanese bank in their marketing department, so i often had a chance to practice my japanese.

well, all for now.
