Your spicy onion ring recipe looks fantastic! Have never seen this mix of ingredients and can't wait to try. We have not had much luck making the "blossom" at home, but have the instructions, if you're interested. Instead, we end up making a "loaf," which will work great with your recipe.

Cut onion into really, really thin circles. Coat each one and press all into a deep fry basket-in one big bunch. Fry for about 15 minutes at 385 degrees so the middle rings are also done and turn out on a plate to drain. If it turns out right, they're all crispy and stringy.

Oh my goodness! I never thought of that. When you make the loaf can it be cut? or is the loaf pulled apart (string cheese style)? What an exciting idea. I am happy to know that you are familiar with the onion 'blossom' I have never seen it in my area.

For those who don't know what we are talking about here is my spicy dicey onion rings recipe <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Just pull it apart. Kids really love it because it's a little different. And the string cheese comparison is perfect.

If you decide to try the onion blossom: just cut off the top and then slice downward into 8-10 wedges. Don't cut all the way through to the bottom. Remove a little bit from the center. Carefully spread out the individual slices (still attached to bottom of onion) and dredge as you normally would-just make sure the mix gets down into the individual parts. Some use a wet/dry/wet mix. Then fry. Let me know if you have any luck with this one at home. We're still trying. They even have "blossom" makers on the market and we have an economy version to experiment with one day.
