Last night I visited a Tibetan Buddhist Centre that has just located itself in my little Welsh town for their open meditation session. I'm not a Buddhist but I do respect their belief system and way of life. I was also curious to meet the Tibetan Lama who resides there- a very lovely, and truly spiritual man.

The reason I'm mentioning it here is that we were led out to a garage block- a smart garage, but a garage none the less. When we went inside it was like being transported to another realm, and hard to equate the outside of the building with the inside. There was such a tangible sense of peace, beauty and tranquillity there. It was proof to me that you really can make anywhere sacred!

In an urban setting, you never can tell what wonders might be lurking inside a garage!

As with all magick, the intention behind the actions is what truly creates the transformation. I turned a patch of dirt at a former apartment into a wonderful garden full of color and life. The yard had a 6 ft tall fence, so no one outside the yard had any idea what was on the other side.

Yep, with no privacy at my house the bathtub frequently becomes sacred space! I do my best magic in the tub....

And in the car! I typically have a 120+ mile round trip to work. Part of it is a beautiful drive down a rural highway. I do have to watch my zoning out. Tonight I saw the most incredible vision in the clouds above the waning moon......it was like a slideshow!

First, I saw the God and Goddess holding hands....then two birds.....then a dragon.....then a face.....all within a few minutes!

It is really true that sacred space can be made anywhere, even a garage.

One of my closest friends has on the floor of her garage a large pentacle that is exactly placed (Her ex husband got out the compas an dmade sure it was precise). We have done many rituals around that pentacle and it is always a profound experience.

I love your garden story Rae. We are in the process of buying a house and I am really excited to start turning the yars into a sacred place.

Parthena - What amazing wonderful sites! I love cloud gazing.

I love the thought of all these magical, sacred spaces tucked away behind ordinary exteriors. It reminds me of the children's novel The Secret Garden.

It's a good reminder that you don't need to spend a lot of cash or have a lot of space to make a place sacred. I like the idea of the car being one of your special places Parthena. I do a lot of the talking to my guides in the car- no-one can hear me rattling on to them there!

Yes, they are everywhere. I want so badly to visit Europe, in particular, England and Scotland where I'm sure they abound. Here in Oklahoma, stones carved with runes were found in a town called Heavener. They are protected within a state park.

The weather's been nice and I've been outdoors alot. I have noticed the coolest things made by nature at our local lake park.....natural stone circles, for instance...and on a tree where a dead limb had been cut off, there is a perfect little "chair" for a toddler....or a fairy!

We are lucky to have many ancient monuments and I'm sure you'd enjoy a well planned visit one day.

Mother Nature does make the best spaces doesn't she? I've just returned from walking the dog in the wooded hills near my home. I took a different path today (I'm doing this a lot lately, think it represents the conscious decision to make changes in my life) and found a lovely spot where two oak trees stood side by side intertwining their roots, creating a natural seat all covered in thick moss. It certainly felt like a blessed spot sitting there in dappled sunlight & listening to the birdsong.

One day, walking through the woods, I came upon an oak tree, wider at the bottom, huge, and at the bottom it grew out like arms on a chair. There was an inch of moss growing on it, and I sat down and it was just the right size for me. It was soft, comfy, and I decided it was a tree for the leprechaun king. I immediately bonded with this tree, and ran home to spread the good news. For several days I went to the leprechaun throne, and would sit and read. Less than a week after I found this tree, I walked up and they had cleared the lot, and the tree was sitting in pieces in the back of a truck, and drove off. I nearly cried, I did not have a picture of the tree or a piece of it, and to this day when I think of this very special oak, my heart feels heavy. I feel I was sent to this tree so it could be loved in its last days. I still tell people about this tree. My friends know I love trees, especially oaks, even though I am very allergic to the pollen.

I think I *would* have cried to be honest. Sometimes people can be so unconnected from nature At least you had the experience of meeting this great tree & it had the experience of being appreciated by you.

I love oaks too- they seem to have so much individual personality, from the young upright trees to the old gnarly ones.

Well, I hope to be able to go for more than one day, lol! I would love to go on a 2 or 3 month tour!

firefly, I would have cried as well. A few months ago, the city cut down a ton of trees in the wooded area behind our house because they were getting tangled in power lines. I was so upset! I loved having all those trees in our backyard! I was looking for rocks for my garden borders a few weeks ago and found a "slice" of one of the trees shaped like a hand - thumb and all. It's on my deck under a gazing ball right now. When I feel like half killing myself to climb the fence again....it looks like they left a small piece of a trunk that might work for a table base for it.

Today at the hospital was bad. In addition to hubby doing quite badly, one of the nuns came in to talk about his advanced directive. Reality check. I was pretty bummed....someone up there had left a little wooden rosary on his nightstand. It's a Catholic hospital....he was sleeping, so I picked it up and took it to their little chapel to meditate with.

I was amazed when I walked in. It's just a tiny chapel and quite pagan for a Catholic chapel! The entire wall behind the altar has a huge lighted wall sculpture of a tree! It immediately spoke "tree of life" to me. The adjacent wall is a huge stained glass window - with a leaf theme, no religious symbols or figures. It was a beautiful mandala.

I spent about thirty minutes there meditating with the beads and talking to my and his gods and felt so much more at peace when I left.

Don't get too downhearted. No-one down here knows for sure where this is going. Keep up the prayers and the healing. Sometimes healing can change the outcome & sometimes not, but it can always make a difference to quality of life & that counts for a lot.

The chapel sounds like a beautiful place where you really can connect with the Divine. Now you've found this lovely, peaceful, sacred space keep returning to it. It will refresh your energy & help you keep your faith through all of this.
