How are you getting on with the pendulum dowsing? If you get stuck you can ask me for help.

I've just had a great dowsing experience I'd like to share with you all! About six months ago I tucked away a bit of money- just in case my world went completely pear shaped when my marriage split (thank goodness that hasn't happened!) Blessed with a mind like a sieve I couldn't for the life of me recall where in the house I'd hidden it. I have searched everywhere likely in the last couple of weeks to no avail. <img src="/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" />

Having just posted the dowsing article I thought I'd have one last go at dowsing for it. Last time I tried it indicated my bedroom- but having looked all over I couldn't see it & thought I was mistaken. <img src="/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

This morning I dowsed over a plan of my house again. Yet again the pendulum indicated my bedroom. I asked to fine tune where & it showed my dressing table- which I have looked through several times. This time I thought 'okay, it probably isn't there, but I'm going to give it a real good clean out.' I started at the top & worked down, chucking out dodgy looking knickers with baggy elastic on the way! Nothing.

I opened the last drawer & started to remove everything. I found my Past President's medal for Trade Union activities & opened it for old times sake, while thinking of somewhere more appropriate to store it. Nestled behind the medal was the missing money!

I will read your article about pendulum dowsing, but I had to share this: this morning my housekeeper showed me how to dowse for water. We picked a spot where the water line runs below the stone floors. We used a metal hanger she cut into two L-shaped pieces. She held them straight out in front of her, but once she got to the water line they crossed in front of her. I tried it, mine crossed too, and at the spot where the water line is I could feel the energy. This was fun. <img src="/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Great stuff isn't it? If you use the plastic outers from a couple of biros the rods swing more freely too!

You get what you are looking for, so for example you can use the same method to identify geopathic stress lines. Hold a clear intention in your head whilst dowsing for success.

It's really strange I tried the metal coat hangers but seemed to get no reaction so my hubby tried them and they worked for him.
I found a stone from the garden as you suggested - thanks -and that did work. We tried to find an underground stream that we think flows under the paddock and both the stone and the rods came up with the same spot.
I'll let you know if we find water!

Yes, the trick for me was holding them loosely enough so they would swing freely, but not fall out. I will find some of those plastic things. My country property has several creeks that come out of the ground, and I am taking my rods up there, just for grins, to see if there is anywhere in the more arid spots they react to. Of course, this is Florida, and water is everywhere. <img src="/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

if you can't find the plactic covers you can use plastic pony beads from the craft store too. Mine have beads on them and then some ribbon on the end to hold the beads on. They work like a charm

We have an old book on dowsing. One is called "Water Witching U.S.A.," (1918). It is fascinating reading. Dowsers lived on the edge of science and the occult, and the authors, Vogt and Hyman, worked very hard to explain the phenomeon.

There is also a copy of "Irish Diviner," Summer 1977, which contains an article on diviners in Babylon and reports of dowsers who could stop hemorrhage and other cool stuff.

Dowsing is an old art.

This is all stranger than fiction to me. Dear heart and I have been walking the many paths for years. I found my bliss in ichthyology for the past 20 years and have kept many fishes as pets. Ten years ago, when we needed a new home badly, a perfect site came to us in a house called, "The Water Witch." I won't prattle on about the details, but the circumstances were uncanny. I've always felt there was a lot more to the events of that time than I knew. We are still very happy here and enjoy a good life.

Dowsing for a house?

I honestly think dowsing can work for just about anything as long as you can get your mind into neutral.

I have a question about pendulum dowsing, and an experience to share about my wands. 1) The book I have on pendulums states that clockwise means one thing, and counter-clockwise means the other (one is yes, one is no, I can't remember which!). However, a local sensitive intuitive (is that politically correct for psychic medium? <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />) states that the yes and no directions do not necessarily stay the same, and should be established beforehand. 2) When we went to the cemetery to take pictures, we took our dowsing wands (coat hangers with crystals). There was a stiff breeze from the north, yet the wands turned into the wind! And stayed that way as long as we stood in that spot. Oh yes, the question is regarding the direction of the pendulum! I have been on a trip and my cat keeps head butting me for attention...gotta go! <img src="/images/graemlins/beamedup.gif" alt="" />

Pendulums swing different ways for different people. You have to establish the swing for yourself. For me my pendulum swings clockwise for yes and I get a straight swing for no.

Oh the rods into the wind in a cemetery...sounds like you found something...or something found you!

The direction can be different for different pendulums as well. Mine goes forward & back for yes and side to side for no.

Thanks Fiona and Lauren. I switched to a crystal pendulum and it seemed to go counter clockwise for yes, and towards and away from me for no. Sometimes it was quite enthusiastic in its direction, other times less energetic. I tried holding it over my hand to check out anything which might need medical attention. Apparently I have no etheric energy. According to the book I have been reading (The art and science of the pendulum by Gabrielle Blackburn), this means: I am in shock <img src="/images/graemlins/shocked.gif" alt="" />, out of body <img src="/images/graemlins/beamedup.gif" alt="" />, fixing to die or dead <img src="/images/graemlins/angel.gif" alt="" />. I asked the pendulum and it was none of the above, so I chalked it up to the fact that I was just plain and utterly exhausted from my busy weekend mining. Has anyone else read this book, and what do you think? It is very interesting.

If you really had no etheric energy you would be dead LOL I think we can safely count that one out!

More likely your etheric energy is very low, which is what happens when we get physically exhausted. Shock can make the etheric jump out of its station & this is a possiblility too. If you've had low energy ever since your daughter died it is likely out of place & needs realigning. Hope that helps!
