A teenage writer deciding that most of the communication of their peers is boring is nothing new. I held a very similar opinion 20 years ago when I was in school, and all we had back then was regular landline phones. It's too bad he decided to attach the entire concept of blogging to his irritation with his peers.
I think for people who write regularly and who write well, blogging is great. It's the same essentially as keeping a diary or running a regular column. With people willing to share their true experiences and insights, you usually get interesting content.
I wouldn't think that most teenagers on a community site would blog about all that much, or blog about anything all that deep. They're just messing around. As with all writing, it has to have a purpose, be it to inform, entertain, document or act as some sort of catharsis for the writer.
I keep a blog myself, but as its content is limited to my participation in the SF leather community, I can't share the link with you here. Suffice to say, between 80 and 100 total strangers read each entry I write and seem to enjoy reading about my life and thoughts.
