I was just wondering if anyone here home brews. We have been doing it for around a year now. I bought a kit for my husband for christmas and he's done about 3 brews. My son wants to try his hand at Root Beer.

That's going to be interesting. <img src="/images/graemlins/shocked.gif" alt="" /> LOL.

Any good recipies out there? Anyone know the recipie for Mich. Amber Boch?

The Bull has been brewing for over 30 years on and off. Anything from malt extract up to malting my own grain. I am passionate about wine making and blending at the moment am working on the wines needed for "Meritage" - The new world =to Bordeaux. I also do mead (honey wine) and a lot of experiments with herbs and stuff. Fun Hobby and good for the digestion etc.

I've been brewing for years and I've gotta tell you if your serious about it contact this guy-> scott1962us@yahoo.com
He sells home brew equipment on ebay (and off eBay) and will get almost anything you want at a fair price. He also is VERY willing to give advice if you're not sure what you need. Just ask and he'll help. He may have a website set up by now but I don't know what the URL is. great resource for new homebrewers as well as us 'old hands'!

I myself have homebrewed for about 8 years now. Hubby has been doing it for about 20 years now. We've also made a few wines from local berries, and our favorite is a blueberry wheat. We also have a honey mead that we made and bottled back in 1999.. each year we try a bottle and it gets smoother and smoother as time goes by.
Right now we have a dark stout that's ready to keg. Lately we've been kegging our beer.. so much easier than all those bottles, but we did have to purchase a extra fridge to hold the kegs, but its out in the garage... holds soda when the beers are gone.

The 300th Birthday of Ben Franklin is coming up in 2006. In his honor, the Brewers Association has selected a recipe created by Tony Simmons of Colorado as the commemorative drink for the grand celebration. Recipe and details are here:
http://www.bellaonline.com/articles/art36104.asp

The recipe makes 1 barrel. Homebrewers can modify the quantities to match their own capacities.

me and my dad used to make beer 40 years ago by boiling the hops etc but it caused that much smell my mam used to go mad and tell us to stop , it was powerful stuff, later on kits came out and we just added the water to the contents of a tin and added the yeast, it would blow your head off sometimes as its a lot stronger than beer bought in bars. afterwards i went on to make home made wine.
