Have you ever joined an online dating site or placed a personal ad? I have. I once received a response from a guy who sent me a picture that had to be 15 years old and he said he was 6 ft. tall. I don't know what know happened between the time he sent the letter and our meeting a couple of weeks later, BUT... <img src="/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

I reading my morning e-mails and came across an article concerning online dating now big with 55 and older folks. This article goes on to say, "Online dating does have its drawbacks. The most common complaint: what you see online may not be what you get offline. Photos may be old. Men say some women lie about age and weight; women say some men lie about height and marital status".

I have several friends (women) who have found true love <img src="/images/graemlins/heart.gif" alt="" /> and gotten married. Has anyone had an experience with dating by web or classifieds? Good or bad <img src="/images/graemlins/smirk.gif" alt="" />

I met my sweetie online over 3 years ago. Neither of us liked the "bar" scene & I had talked to a couple of people who had met their SO's online, so I gave it a shot. I met some nice guys. I followed the rules (meet in a public place, don't give out personal info, etc.)

I did meet one guy who had a picture of himself that was at least 15 years old! Which meant he was about 30 years older than me. LOL--and he was of course crazy about me. Go figure.

I think it's great that you met your honey online. Good luck to both of you. I have a friend who met her future husband through a personal ad. They are now grandparents <img src="/images/graemlins/lovers.gif" alt="" />

It's true that you can meet nice people online. Case in point is a forum like this one. After a while people become your friends. One of the guys I met through an ad became one of my best friends. But you can get some clunker's when the person responding is not honest.
