I had a dream about a week ago that I was being embalmed.. but I was still alive when they were doing this.. after they finished, when i opened my eyes there was a clock that i could see in the bottom right of my sight counting down on how much time i actually had left before i truely died. My mother, who is still alive, could communicate with me telepathicly. then I was in her house.. the time ran out and the room (space) went a bright blue color. Not the white light everyone hears about. I was frantically searching for my father ( who passed 2 years ago )but I couldn't find him... then I woke up... any insight on what all this could mean??!!

Not your time? Just missing your dad maybe?

My dad had a "life after death" experience. When I was a little girl he was doing construction. They were clearing the riverbanks and ran across parsnips. Wild parsnips are poisoness but very difficult to tell the difference. He survived. Very rare. He remembers light, but describes it as no color. Says there were no pearly gates or anything like that, just nothing, but everything. Just felt like he knew "why" but does't remember since he came back.

Interesting dream. I love dreams

Hi and Welcome!

Skinydpr, thanks for your insight and for sharing that!

Dragonfly3265 - "embalming" isn't listed in most dream dictionaries but it is associated with death. Death in dreams does not necessarily mean physical death:

Death and Dying

It more often means the end of a phase, cycle or relationship. Clocks are a measure of time and in dreams often refer to a feeling of not having enough time, time running out, etc:

Clocks

Clocks, Watches and Calendars

This book review discusses a book that has a lot of information on deceased loved ones communicating with us through our dreams:

Bereavement Dreaming and the Indivduating Soul

Although you didn't meet your father in your dream, you may be feeling like you need him, or he may be telling you that he is with you. Pay attention to dreams you have in the next few weeks or months. He may appear in them.

In summary, it seems your dream is telling you that you're running out of time. Perhaps you've been procrastinating or dragging your feet about something, or something is going to end and you're not ready. There is the possibility that this is a predictive dream - you may want to make a doctor's appointment to make sure that your dream isn't warning you of an illness. Remember that this is only a slight possibility and don't let it stress or upset you.

Blue symbolizes peace, patience and healing. As Sknydpr said, the dream may be telling you that it's not your time, or that you can prevent something. Mother in dreams symbolizes your intuitive side and that you can communicate telepathically in your dream with her couldn't be more clear on that one! Perhaps she is telling you to use your intuition in regard to the situation your dream is bringing to your attention.

I just had a thought that the embalming while you're still alive may mean you've lost your joy in life or may be so tired you feel half-dead.

What were the emotions you felt? They are very important in interpreting your dream.

What do you think? The dreamer is the true interpreter of the dream because only you know your feelings and life situation.

This was about the time that Terri Schiavo's feeding tube was removed. Could be that you were connecting telepathically, identifying with her or reacting to the news of this event? Just my first impression...

I speculated that way about yours probably because I had a disturbing dream about South Asian people floating in tanks, a few days before the tsunami.

Absolutely. Death in dreams often occurs at the end of a cycle. In this case, a new beginning.

I'd look at whether you hated the old job or are not so enthusiastic about the new one. Maybe you have a ton of loose ends to tie up at the old job and don't feel you have enough time.

Ask yourself:

What is ending or needs to end?
What things do I need to finish before I move on?
What emotions does this dream bring up?

That gives me goosebumps because someone I was talking with today had the same dream you did.
