I agree... to me, Bruce Lee is to Martial Arts what the King and the Beatles were to Rock'n'Roll.

My fave is my hubby <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> I know that probably doesn't count but he is a 2nd dan black belt in Ninjutsu. I could watch him all day, just amazing. In the movies.......definately Jet Li.

Jet Li is always amazing. But I think some of the "bad guys" are pretty good, too. They just get played down because they are supposed to lose

Bolo Yeung - he played opposite Van Damme in "BloodSport" & when I looked up his filmography he had done a TON of stuff with Bruce Lee. This guy is BUILT.

Cary-Hiroyuki Tagana - he was the bad guy in "Mortal Kombat" and "Elektra" and a bunch of others. He just LOOKS like a bad guy.

Anyway, they're both pretty good, too.

The movie Bloodsport, Van Damme played Frank Dux, how is a Master in Ninjutsu, which is what my hubby does. But of course they "Hollywooded" it up!! He wants to train me but I don't have a craving to get thrown around, he teaches and always comes back with bruises.....I'm too much of a girly girl.....maybe one day, it would be nice to say I have a black belt!!

JessieBoo,

I have to agree with you. A husband can be the best martial artist to list. You get a live and up close view of him without all the hollywood stunts or gitz of popularity.

Favorite of all time would be hard to judge. Ueshiba is pretty awesome, but in terms of success in defeating his enemies, nobody tops Musashi Miyamoto. Funakoshi was amazing, but I have to admit that I practice Shotokan. I thought Yasatsune Itosu was pretty amazing, too. Ankichi Arakaki was an interesting character, but he died young. He was spectacular from what I've read.

I don't care for any of the Hollywood actors as martial artists. Some of the top competitors I know have done poorly in movies (Cynthia Rothrock, anyone?).

Zhang Ziyi looks pretty awesome on the screen, but she's not even a martial artist. She's a dancer.
