Ok, So I'm a mngr at Lane Bryant...I strive to make women comfortable in their own skins, tell them not to look at the number, but to buy what's comfortable and looks good. I even point out MY personal flaws. I'm a fat chick I admit to being a fat chick. One day I told a customer my weight. I'm 275, (& an 18/20) I told her this and she had the nerve to say ... well you have big arms.

Argh...nothing like another woman to cut you down.

Maybe it just bothered me so much because I don't like my 'memere' arms. I think what bothered me more was the way she said it - as if she was trying to come up with a way to make me feel bad to make herself feel better.

-sigh
again, I'm off the soapbox.

I agree with your advice. The number is just a number. To tight and too loose just looks terrible.

She sounds rude.

Wendy, as sucky as this situation is, I suspect that gal was jealous/envious because you have the confidence and beauty she hasn't been able to find in herself. Maybe it was even subconscious on her part.

As far as arms go, let me say that I actually wish my arms were bigger. (I carry all my weight in my lower body.) And, as luck would have it, I've had people make comments to me about having a "stick neck" and "stick arms," etc., (not something I can change). I think those folks are just trying to make themselves feel better at others' expense.

Anyway, I just think this person would have had *something* rude to say not matter what - even if your body was totally hidden, she'd probably have something critical to say about your voice. She's not at the same place you are maturity-wise and emotionally, and that's too bad for her.

Of course, if you see her again, and she says "Oh you have big arms" you can always say "Yes, the better to PUMMEL you with."

Chris, your reply made me laugh!

I also think she was rude. I'll bet she wasn't perfect and wanted somebody else to not feel perfect, too.

Too bad ...
