I recently learned how to do this from Debbie Kanan's book, The Basics of Bead Stringing. Someone on another forum I visit found this tutorial, which is the exact same technique from Kanan's book:

I initially went to my 'bible', Mark Lareau's All Wired Up, expecting to find his usual excellent teaching. But on wire wrapping, he stinks! I'd expected Kanan's to be difficult because it looked complicated in the book, but once I sat down with it I'd finished my first gemstone in about 2 hours and was soon cranking them out in about 30 minutes. In addition to the way the tutorial shows, you can take the wires and spread them out over the stone, making designs with a twist of the pliers and making more with excess ends. Mine turned out gorgeous, if I do say so myself, and I sold several at a holistic healing fair I did two weeks ago. I got lots of compliments on them from everyone who stopped by my table, including another vendor who was selling his own

I do need to get them taken, and to be honest, me and the camera do not get along when it comes to taking pictures of my work I've had so much going on lately that I haven't had much time, and because it's not my favorite task, I put it off! I do need to get them done and y'all will be the first to see!

Here's another that someone from the same forum shared with me for finishing ends of leather cord. I can't wait to try it!

Eni does exquisite work, doesn't she?

I just today bought a new digi cam (I do most of my jewelry close ups on the scanner). My old digi cam was horridly lame, I got a decent 3.2 megapixel for 77 bucks at Target!
