I'm about halfway thru BLUE MARS right now, and hearing the Martian colonists talk about environmental concerns and human rights as they form their constitution, it's amazing how relevant to right now it all seems.
I guess this trilogy was written in the mid 1990s mostly, so really the relevance of the politics isn't that surprising. However, it is interesting to see what people think is important when they get a chance to start a whole new system from scratch with everything that's ever been tried on Earth as a model.
