In your lesson about building negatives, you have the following sentence, "Yo no se ni siguiera como te llamas. The translation is I don't even know what's your name. Would it also be more collequial to say I don't even know your name or is that translated differently into Spanish?

And yes, "el gato" = male cat and "la gata" = female cat.

Just one correction: The translation for "a house" is not "la casa", but "una casa". Apart from that, everything is correct.

About your question, regarding the sentence on the "Negation" lesson, "Yo no se ni siguiera como te llamas", you're right, as both English sentences are valid and translated into Spanish the same way. Yes, it's more colloquial, but they have the same meaning.

I studied Spanish in high school many years ago. However, my ear is not good. Do you have suggestions for improving listening skills? There are many Spanish speaking people moving into our area and it would be helpful to speak and understand Spanish. I have a long way to go to recall the little I remember from Spanish in school.

Gracias por sus lecciones en sua homepage. Como se dice "I would like to learn, improve, etc?" Is there an all purpose expression for I would like to.....? Miamiga vive in Espana y I would like visitarla alguno dia.

Hi Angie,

To improve your listening skills, you could listen to spanish radio stations (also available on the net) or Spanish channels, if you have the possibility. And if there are Spanish speakers in your community, don't be shy and try to start short conversations.

Believe, if there were English speakers here in Spain, I would try to do so!! ;-)

There are also good programs, CD, DVD, etc. which could help you.

Anyway, your comment is going to the point, as most students say they have learned Spanish grammar, vocabulary, etc... but they now need to know how to pronounce all those words!!

I'll open a new topic where you'll find listed helpful resources about Spanish pronounciation. I think there are a lot of them on the internet.

Oops! Just a correction:
You said: "Gracias por sus lecciones en sua homepage". Ok, it's fine but the possesive is not "sua" but "su" (your). We also use in Spanish the word "homepage", but it sounds better is we say "p�gina web" (webpage).

Ah! One more thing: I suppose it is just a typing mistake, but I have to tell this, in order any person reading this message think that Spanish word exists! I'm refering to "Miamiga". In fact, it is "Mi amiga" (My friend).

Apart from that, everything looks good!

And finally, here's how we say "I would like to learn, improve...":

"Me gustar�a aprender, mejorar..."

So, your final sentence is:

"Mi amiga vive en Espa�a y me gustar�a visitarla alg�n d�a"

- Vive en Espa�a, not Vive in Espa�a
- alg�n, not alguno. (Alguno is a pronoun)

Nice you wrote it in Spanish! Ok, could I make some corrections? ;-)

The accent in "d�a" is on letter "i", not "a".

Ah, tu amiga en Espa�a tambi�n se llama Angeles!
You could say: "Mi amiga EN (not "in") Espa�a se llama Angeles tambi�n"

Sorry, don't know what you meant with "tranjamos"! Could you give me the English equivalent?

Finally, when you say "Esta una programa de Mexico..." surely you meant: "There is a program.." right? So the translation for this verb isn't "Esta" but "Hay".
(Note that "there is" and "there are" are translated as "hay". ok?

Yes, so what you meant was "trabajamos".

So, to say "when we worked..." = Cuando nosotras (feminine) trabajamos..."

But, getting back to your sentence:

"When we worked, she was Big Angie and I was Little Angie"

--> "Cuando trabajamos, ella era Angie "la grande" (or "la mayor") y yo era Angie "la peque�a".
