So,anyone seen it? I'll have to wait for the DVD to come out as the ONE theater whereI live is still showing all kid movies .It still has Xmas with the Kranks for goodness sake!

I saw the making of PHANTOM on E! It Looks Beautiful and I LOVED the play! I liked Gerad Butler(the Phantom) in that stupid thing he was in with Jolie. He has never sung before BUT Sir Weber claims it is what he always wanted for the Phantom( a non-singer) The girl is 17 who has the lead; she started singing at 12 with the Met. The movie certainly appears to be beautiful... good things come to those who wait and wait and wait...

Don't think I am crazy but a few years ago a movie was coming out and for some crazy reason I wanted to see it. Well, they were doing a sneak preview in Manhattan (where I live) at 7:30.

My husband at the time thought it would be smart to get to the theatre 30 minutes before the show started. Ha! The show sold out days before because it was only one showing and advance tickets were available. The only other way to see that movie on the sneak preview day was to drive 2 1/2 hours or wait 2 months for it to come out.

Yea, I couldn't wait. I drove. And it ended up being the world premiere of the movie with some of the celebrities from the movie there.

If you really want to see Phantom without waiting, how about a semi-road trip? It's not always that bad.

Let me tell you this, on a 1-10, I gave it a 9.5. Why the -.5? Have you seen Jesus Christ Superstar?? Andrew Llyod Webber wrote it too and I had flashbacks to Pilate singing at times, almost the same voice and melody. If you can get past that minor thing its a GREAT movie. My guy even had tears a few times.

Great love story, but here's a minor thought....in this day and age he would have been a stalker!

"In this day and age he would have been a stalker!"

WOOhOOO...I saw it! Can you believe it came here this past weekend, how weird is that? I made my husband take me(hehehe) and he HATES long movies and LOATHES musicals...this didn't change his mind on either count...yahaha...Opps, sorry My glee overcame me there for a moment!

I Loved this production(although it was a tad slow getting a move on)It was both lush and beautiful. I thought Butler was as "smooth as butta..." Mmmm, yummy and he sang very well too. Just the right mix of dastardly horror and heartbreaking woe....where did he get those eyelashes? A few women have remarked that someone else would have made a better Phantom; but when I asked who? They had no ideas. Most thought Butler too young for the roll, but given the heroine's age I think he was just right(in more ways than mentioned here)

Young Emily Rossom was lovely and vulnerable with an astonishing voice in one only 17. Joel Shumacher(sp?) the director called the Raoul actor the "annoyingly perfect Patrick Wilson"...very beefy and heroic with another lilting tenor...when I saw him interviewed I had no clue who he was with short hair...he looked 15 years older w/o the mane. I will rent "Angels in America" so I can see him in something else.

The supporting cast, including a very funny turn by Minnie Driver as the slightly offkey Italian diva, were all smashing as well...Go! Enjoy!!! I did...
