Hi Welcome to the Mystery Movie Forum. I know that anyone who stops by here does so because they love movies. So Here are a few questions to help us get started. No prizes just fun!

Can you name any of these movies? Hint - they are not necessarily mystery movies, but are all old classics:

  • What is the name of the only movie in which Henry Fonda played a killer?
  • What is the name of a classic black and white movie that has Technicolor footage in it?
  • Name the musical comedy that starred singer Bonnie Raitt's father and a famous blond actress as management and labor. Also what is the Bonnie's fathers first name?
  • Name the very first Pink Panther movie in the series.
  • What is the name of the American comedy that Alfred Hitchcock made?
  • Marlon Brando sings and dances in this color movie. What is it?
  • Lauren Bacall says "you know how to whistle . . . " Name the movie.
  • In the movie Goldfinger, Ms. Galore says to Bond, "My name is Pussy Galore" What is his reply?
  • Clint Eastwood starred in a series of westerns produced in Europe. What were they dubbed?
  • What was the name of Sherlock Holmes nemesis?

Wizard of Oz?

Sherlock's nemesis: Moriarty (I know that from reading Sir Arthur Conan Doyle since I was a little girl!)

Yes, that's right. It's Moriarty. I also love Sherlock Holmes. My fav Sherlock Holmes movies are the old Basil Rathbones.

Sorry no. WOZ is a tecnicolor movie with b/w footage. This b/w movie has color about midway the movie.

What is the name of the only movie in which Henry Fonda played a killer?

Henry Fonda played a killer in Sergio Leone's ONCE UPON A TIME IN THE WEST (1969?) A good strong cast here - Jason Robards, Charles Bronson, Claudia Cardinale, Woody Strode, Jack Elam.

Fonda plays Frank, a murderous psychopath who savagely murders a family, including a child. A really great movie but probably not as successful as it could have been because no one could see 'good guy' Fonda in this role. I suspect that Charles Bronson who plays the brother of the murdered man would have more acceptable to movie goers as the bad guy.

What is the name of a classic black and white movie that has Technicolor footage in it?

THE WOMEN (1939) Although the movie is black and white the magnificent fashion sequence is in color.

Stars: Norma Shearer, Joan Crawford, Rosalind Russell, Joan fontaine, Ruth Hussey, Marjorie Main, more...

This black and white movie is unique in several ways. (1) there are no men here. But you don't miss them because they are the subject of the movie. The movie is adapted from a play by Clare Boothe. (2) Boothe was the editor of Vanity Fair, an award-winning playwright, a prolific author, a foreign and domestic journalist, a Congresswoman from Connecticut and the American Ambassador to Italy.

Although her play was considered daring and risque  she was a widely admired conservative leader. She married Henry R. Luce, the Co-founder of TIME magazine.

The Lauren Bacall Question:
The Movie "To Have and Have Not" Bacall delivered her famous line in that movie: "You know how to whistle don't you, Steve?"

Yep! You got it. To Have and Have Not was Lauren Bacalls screen debut. It's hard to believe that she was only 19 years old isn't.

The name of the musical comedy is THE PAJAMA GAME starring Doris Day and John Raitt (Bonnie Raitt's dad)

The premise of the movie is labor (Doris Day) against management (John Raitt) and a disagreement over a 7 1/2 cent raise. Most of the action takes place at the Sleeptite Pajama Factory. Lots of singing, dancing and great fun. If I remember correctly dancer/choreographer Bob Fosse is also in this movie? Watch for his choreographed moves in the musical number "Steam Heat" by Carol Haney.
