I'm going to do an article on frugal grocery shopping - i.e. using the Sunday paper (which I just dug through) to plan out a week's worth of low carb food and do it frugally.

I'm finding really amazing deals at two different stores near me, plus I have coupons for Arnold's low carb bread (which I love) plus EAS carb control bars. I could make out like a bandit quite easily by going to each store and buying about half of my supplies at each.

Is that TOO frugal for most people? Should I just see the best I can do at one supermarket? Or would people on a budget mind going to the second supermarket (maybe on the next day) to save a bunch of money?

That's what I figure, if you're going to dedicate time to searching the paper for coupons and specials to save money, spending a few cents on gas to drive to a second grocery store to save money would seem reasonable. It's time that saves you a good portion of your grocery bill.

I was initially going to do a week up for a "2 person household" but now in talking with another user I think I'll do at least 2 different runs. One will be the "2 person household" and then another will be for a "family of 2 parents 2 kids". I suppose a 3rd run I should do would be for the single low carber. So for each run we'll go to the supermarket, go shopping for a week's worth of food based on the coupons in the Sunday paper and their current specials. We'll see how it goes!!

To help me get an idea of what range to work on, could those of you already on a low carb diet post here for me the # of people in your family and your average weekly shopping bill for groceries only? That would be a great help, thanks!!
