Hi, I'm new to the site.
My first car was a 1965 White Chevy Impala with red interior. It was a great car in mint condition. But 2 years later I traded it off for a orange and white volkeswagon party van. Now that was a long time ago! :music:

hi folks!
new to this forum but when i saw the question of "what's your first car?" i had to stop and read.
only that i came to the conclusion that i don't remember my first car. growing up my dad was a used car restorer/saleman so we always had several cars lying around. some of them were great classics and some exotics!
i don't know if this counts as my first car or not but from what i remember is one christmas when i 4yo, i got a new mini battery powered, sky blue funny car racer. and i drove that thing everywhere as fast as it would go! somehow after a few mid-night runs... i don't remember having it anymore. i also don't know if this counts but the next car that was "mine" was a sky blue '68 VW bug with navy blue interior. i was of course 6yo, but we got it on my b-day and my dad told me it was mine. even let me shift gears and steer sometimes before he sold it.
i don't really count those as being my first "freedom" cars though. i never had a car that was entirely my own. i had one powder blue (a coincidence for i really think this color on most vehicles does NOT belong) '78, 350 engine, black interior, camarro. now i DID choose and buy this car with my own money, however, due to my age and lack of license i put it under my boyfriend's name. i now know i was dumb.
all that aside, i can certainly tell you that the first car i fell in-love with that was mine to use at will was an '83 pontiac grand am, fully restored, mettallic mid-night blue with plush dusky blue/wood paneling interior. it had sway bars and a huge V8 engine. i've out raced a corvette in her and drove her nearly across country. she was MY girl until her untimely demise.

holy [censored] i just wrote a book here. sorry folks for the rambling. i get like that when speakig of cars. :rolling:

ENJOY!!

I had to stop by when I saw that question too.. I loved my first car.. It was a 73 oldsmobile omega.. I thought I was the poo in that car! I later sold it for 200. tried to give it to a girl who needed a car to get to work but she insisted on paying for it. I miss that car... or maybe it's the carefree days LOL

I'm new here too but had to respond to this one. You all make me feel old! My 1st car was a 1954 Ford station wagon that my dad had taken in in trade at his motorcycle shop. I named it Granny Goodwitch because there was a commerical on TV at the time for Sugar Crisp cereal with a character by the same name. A few mos later DAd decided he needed to sell it so I had to walk for a while! I got it in 1963. Well, I guess that does make me old.

Mine was a 1992 Mercury Tracer - aka Ford Tempo (?) It was red on red and I hated it. I was basically told that it was going to be my car, I'm grateful for it now but back then red was my least favorite color on the planet and this just made it worse. I've since graduated to a 2002 silver malibu and I love her. =]

Yeah !! Everyone remembers that vehicle that brings you that first taste of freedom.

Mine was a 1947 Chevrolet Club Coupe, bought in 1956, I was a Senior in high school then.

I'd love to have it now.

What was yours?? [/qb]
My first car was a VERY used 1987 silver Dodge Colt with a rust hole at the bottom of the driver's door (perfect air conditioning!!), an AM radio and no pickup, I had to accelerate to 50 to be going 35 by the time I reached the top of a hill. I called her "The Silver Roach", but to others I said she was "The Silverado". She cost me $200 and ran without repairs, evne across state lines and on the highway, for nearly two years. She was all I could afford fresh out of college...and she got me going through my first post-college job.

My very first car was a lime green Rambler in l969. It was SO old that I'm not sure if it even had a year that it was made! LOL! I had it for my first 2 years of college and was glad I even had transportation! It smoked and burned so much oil that I had to buy oil by the gallons...used, at that.

I moved on to a Ford Pinto wagon. Remember those? It was a perfect little hippie wagon...and I used to do all my college art work in her (drawings, etc.) It was my studio on wheels. LOL

It really wasn't perfect, though, because on rainy days I couldn't get it started. Oh well, that might be why we don't see any now.

The first car I bought for myself was a gold 1990 Ford Taurus. Someone crashed into my husband last year, which totalled it. We then bought a 2003 Taurus to replace it.

With my first husband, we only owned Buicks--Skylarks and a LeSabre.
