I have been a true ghost fan since I was a small child and I always wanted to have some kind of proof that spirits exist. How can I capture a spirit on film if I have no psychic abilities to attract them? Please any help or suggestions would be great .Thanks

I don't know about attracting spirits, but I've seen some interesting effects with Kirlian photography. My usual aura was very much changed when the picture was taken on my deceased grandmother's birthday, and the photographer said it indicated the presence of spirit energies.

Hi!

A book you may be interested in:

Small Town Ghosts by Barb Huyser

Huyser is a serious ghost hunter, and in this book she details her visits to "haunted" places and cemetaries. She also gives practical and detailed information on equipment such as cameras and the type to use, electromagnetic field detectors, tape recorders, thermal scanners and thermometers, video cameras, night vision equipment, and more. She also details how to prevent fraud and professional ethics.

If you're interested in a casebook of paranormal theories and investigations, I'm sure you'd enjoy this book. (Some black and white pictures are also included.)

You're welcome, Barb. I was sent this book by the author for review, but haven't had a chance to review it yet. (I receive tons of books, audios, etc.!) Glad you find another treasure to add to your collection.

Hi Barb and Janet,

As a paranormal investigator with over 25 years of experience, I can tell you it doesn't take even a smidge of psychic ability to be able to take photos and have orbs or misty forms show up in them. It does help to have some sensitivity to ghosts and spirits because it gives you a sense of which direction to turn and take the photos.

Often, the best photos are taken by people who are living in the haunted house, rather than the photos taken by the paranormal investigator. It isn't unusual to take photos at a big family event, such as a wedding or christening, and have orbs or mists show up. Our family members who've already crossed over often show up for family celebrations. A little thing like crossing over shouldn't keep people we love from celebrating with us :-)

One of the easiest places to capture paranormal photos are in cemeteries at night. This isn't a technique available to everyone. I live in a small town and have access to small cemeteries in rural areas. People who live in cities usually can't get in at night or it isn't safe. If you decide to do this, don't go alone. It's safer and you're less likely to scare yourself if you have company. You'd be surprised how tranquil cemeteries are at night. In decades of doing this more times than I can count, I've only been scared in one cemetery which was actually haunted by ghosts. The other cemeteries weren't haunted. They contained crossover points where spirits from the other side are moving back and forth as they visit family here. (I know, there's a bigger explanation needed for this concept).

Take your camera (I recommend a point and shoot, 35 mm camera, good flash, and 800 speed film). Go at dusk so you can get the lay of the land. Wait patiently until it is pitch dark. Take photos anywhere you get the urge to take them and see what shows up when you get them developed. This is a very brief explanation of a technique for getting paranormal photos. There is much more detail and in depth explanations of theories about ghosts and hauntings, along with stories of actual investigations in my book.

For examples of photos I've taken using this same technique, please visit my website: www.smalltownghosts.com

When my book was to be published, I submitted 70 photos I wanted included. To save cost, my publisher didn't even put a third of them in. So, I put them all on my website, enlarged, and in living color (pun intended).

Good luck and happy ghost hunting!

I have been a paranormal researcher for over 20 years now and my advice is not to waste your money. There has not been an actual photo of a ghost yet that I have seen.
Orbs are not ghosts for the most part.

But if you do wish to go out an experiment make sure the camera is manual focus and most especially not a digital camera.

If you are outside, watch out for bugs, dust, other particles, etc... Inside it is mainly dust and other particles that you have to watch out for. Fuzz makes for some interesting shots as well. And for goodness sake, keep your hair tied back and take the camera strap off.

Video is actually a much better bet to try and will not give you so many false positives. Infrared film might work, but you have to know more about it and have a reliable source for the film. It can be tricky.

"But if you do wish to go out an experiment make sure the camera is manual focus and most especially not a digital camera" What is the reason for this statement?

have been a paranormal researcher for over 20 years now... *** Do you make your living by doing this or is it sinmply a hobby.

"There has not been an actual photo of a ghost yet that I have seen." REALLY, and yet you continue to be a researcher in a field that has not yeilded you any visual proof over 20 yrs now. You need to get out more. Or find a new hobby.

Wow! Wish I would have known this one came in. A little harsh aren't you! Sorry I am so late answering.

The reason for manual focus and not an automatic digital camera is the immense number of false positives that one gets with automatic digital cameras. When I started in the field we used film with not many hits, but with the advent of digital cameras our hits increased dramatically. So we immediately went out to do some testing to see what else could be going on.

I do not charge for my services and writing books does not make much money. I do not do tv or speaking engagements. Most of my research is privately funded. I am not a ghost hunter, I am a paranormal researcher of which "so called ghosts" are a small part.

As for being a researcher in a field that has not yielded me any visual proof; I guess you did not read my whole post. I suggested video over still photography. I have witnessed and experienced so much over the years and that is what keeps me in the field. Besides ghosts are a small part of the haunting phenomena.
