I was just looking out my window for a minute when I saw, right across the street, a tiny red squirrel chasing a big black squirrel! They ran across the roadway, up onto the fence, across the fence and back down onto the lawn of the neighbour!
There are always tons of the black and gray squirrels around here and quite a few of the smaller, faster red squirrels, too but I seldom, if ever, see them interact with one another. I don't have the time right now to go do any serious homework but I think I remember reading that they are actually the same species. Still, seeing them truly play together is a first for me.
