Dealing with anorexia, sometimes on the recovery end and sometimes on the other end, I see why there are pro-ana sites out there. Honestly, I'm a member of some of them. Then I'm also a member of a fantastic recovery site www.something-fishy.org. Although anorexia isn't all me it is a part of me that's exceptionally hard to let go of. I can only share from my experience that anorexia is like
a pseudo-religion to me. However, I DON'T give tips to others because that's like handing a loaded gun to somebody who is suicidal. I admit
I'm both ambivalent and ambiguous about recovery.

Thank you for sharing with us! I understand it can be hard recovering from anorexia. I am recovering from an eating disorder myself. I would love to get a good listing of links to sites that help people get help. If you could recommend some either here or email me at bodyimage@bellaonline.com I would really appreciate it and so would everyone else I am sure.

Hello,

I visit pro-anorexic sites as well. Like you said, it's kind of like a pseudo-religion. I'm not sure about recovery either. It's like, I want to recover, but I want to eat healthy and I want to look pretty (and some people just told me that I'm not when I showed them my pictures ). I can tie *everything* in the world into my Anorexia. Even work. It's so sick. Even my parents don't know how far back I've gone. I've been in and out of treatment for four years. It would kill them

I feel for you Bjork. I get emails from women suffering with anorexia all the time. Have you tried counceling? Sometimes anorexia goes deeper then just not wanting to gain weight. Some people with anorexia have issues in their lives and by starving themselves or binging and purging is the only way they feel in controll of their lives. There is a lot of help out there. Sometimes you just have to know where to look. And who care about what other people think of you. I weigh about 260 and I am happy and on the road to better health. If you need to talk, just email me ok. I am here for anyone who needs an ear (or eyes in this case) to listen.

Hi, Cha La & Angel.
You are both doing something good for yourselves by talking about it. Communicating with people about your struggles is a good start toward getting better. Keep it up. Just writing down what you're going through can be enlightening. Maybe you'll be ready to contact a professional soon who can guide you to the next healthy step.
Stop by and say hello again soon!
