I've just added 2 new articles about the I Ching: The I Ching - The Book Of Changes The I Ching is the classic Chinese method of divination. It began as an oral tradition, but became formalized by Confucius. It is an all encompassing system, offering advice on emotional and material aspects of everyday life. The I Ching - The Eight Trigrams Each of the eight trigrams of the I Ching has numerous correspondences and attributes, such as natural features, parts of the body, and family relationships. Together they symbolize the evolution of nature and its cyclical changes.

Have you ever read with the I Ching? I've never tried it but it looks interesting.

Hi Heather,
No, I haven't. It's really never "hit" me and I've never been drawn to it. I've encountered others who seem to have had great insights with it, though. I suppose it's like any form of divination or wisdom: some people are drawn to it, and others aren't. Kaballah is another discipline I've not been interested in. Both it and the I Ching strike me as analytical and left-brained...something I need to move away from!

I haven't been that drawn to it either. I really like tarot, and I tried runes but it didn't work as well for me as tarot has.

*nods* I almost bought a set of runes a few weeks ago, but it seemed complicated (much like the I Ching!). Since I love visual symbols and archetypes, Tarot seems like a natural fit for me, as well.

I can't say I practice I-Ching readings regularly, but I love to do it every now and then. I don't use the complicated sticks method that was originally recommended, I just flip coins. I have seen two versions of the book, original and adapted. Original is almost impossible to read, it's soooo complicated! Adapted seems okay to me. I find that I-Ching gives me a sense of "orderly peace", helps me to calm down and concentrate a bit and proceed to something more "mine"... Tarot! Love, Me

Very interesting, Elena! I have heard that the I Ching provides much groundedness and peace which goes right along with your experience.
