I've just posted my review of the new oracle deck by Lucy Cavendish:

If you have this deck, I'd love to hear your experiences with it! (Janey, I'm expecting you'll be landing here soon once you get your deck. LOL <img src="/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> )

Hi, Janet!

Just got my cards today...Oh, aren't they gorgeous! I just love the imagry on them and I'm very excited about learning to use them. They 'feel' so positive and affirming...just what I wanted!

On the other hand, the Wisdom Well ones...well, I didn't jive with them at all. I didn't like the feel of them either physically, visually or energetically. Is that unusual?? They felt full of darkness to me, and every card that I turned up was had a dark, depressing and somewhat 'evil' sounding message.

But the Oracle ones? Completely different!

I'm so glad you loved The Oracle Tarot, Janey!

The Wisdom Well is more Jungian and I can understand how you'd feel that some cards are "darker". I suppose it's the artists way of visually portraying what happens when those elements are in the shadow--unacknowledged and unembraced.

As I said, Tarot and Oracle decks are very personal things, and just because I like something doesn't mean someone else will. I try to be very indepth in my reviews so people have more information if they want to buy sight unseen, for example. I'm sorry to hear they're a disappointment, especially since I recommended them. <img src="/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

If you don't already have them, you'd no doubt prefer the Caroline Myss Archetype deck. Here's my review if you missed it: http://www.bellaonline.com/articles/art13721.asp

I'd be interested in your continuing exeprience with The Oracle Tarot, and if also if you decide to give The Wisdom Well another try! <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Oh! ((( Janet ))) No worries on recommending them! They just weren't my cup of tea. Maybe I'm still battling with some of the Christian teaching I've had that any such cards are intrensically "evil". But I did find it fascinating that every card I turned up was upside down, negative, and gave such a contrary 'message' to everything else I've been receiving lately! eek I was trying to keep an open mind, but maybe it was just a fluke?

I hear what you're saying about the personal thing, so maybe that's just it. I think I'll just get to know these cards (the Oracle set) for awhile before trying any others. Already I feel such a positive and uplifting and affirmative message from them <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> Maybe it's the 'girly' quality about them! LOL queen

Hi!

I've just posted my interview with Lucy Cavendish, creator of The Oracle Tarot. It can be found here http://www.bellaonline.com/articles/art18713.asp We discuss the process of making this deck, why she chose not to include Court cards, reversals, girl power, and more! I hope you all enjoy it as much as I did!

Janey, how are the cards working for you? I find myself reaching for this deck before any other lately!

Hiya, Janet! Came over to ask a Tarot question and couldn't decide whether to read the Lucy C. article first or not! LOL <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> I'll post my question and then go read...

Ohhhhh, I LOVE these cards! Just LOVE them! They've been amazingly insightful and I feel like I'm beginning to really 'bond' with them energetically....

So, here's my question. As you know, Tuesday was my birthday <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> I decided to do a three card spred for my new year, and this is what I got:

1. Fool
2. The Chariot
3. The World

This was a past, present, future spred, and while each card held a significant message both individually and as a whole for me, I was wondering if there any significance to the fact that all three cards were Major Arcanas? eek or these three inparticular, over and above what the descriptions (and my heart) tell me??

I really need a handbook on newbie stuff I think....I know this is so much more involved that I have the tools for understanding at this point!

Love and hugs,
Janey queen

<img src="/images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" /> omgosh...I just finished the article!

Janet, that whole thing with the reversals??? That's what's been happening with me! Since there were no 'guidelines' on how to read them in the little booklet, I've just been spinning them around! LOL But it's true what she said....the first couple of weeks, no reversals at all. Now I find them showing up periodically!

Wow...ok...another tool in the toolbox! THANKS!

Hi Janey!

The Major Arcana signifies the "big stuff", so when they come up in a reading, it points moreso towards major life changes or issues. The Minors are more the day to day stuff, but they are important to. Because, quite frankly, it's those "little things" that often turn into big ones!

It is also an archetypal journey from the innocence and exuberance of The Fool onto the final card, The World, where a cycle has come to fulfillment.

When I saw the cards you drew, I thought "WOW". Energetically, they make a lot of sense to me with regards to you.

The Fool...that's the beginning of a new journey. It's where we start out in wonderment and even recklessness. A Magical Child on wheels, so to speak! It's unlimited potential...the place where we're at before any jadedness or world-weariness seeps in. This is definitely a card of "symbolic sight"/the right brain.

The Chariot (7) is a journey of spiritual discovery. Makes sense that if you're taking an exciting trip, you'd get into a vehicle, right? <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> This is a "hero's journey" card. Lots of willpower and ambition. Reminds me of the fire signs: Leo, Sag, and Aries.

What's especially fascinating about your reading is that The Fool is the first card in the Majors (0), and The World is the last (21). This reprsents success and fulfillment. You've taken a huge step towards becoming who you want to be. This is where you unpack your bags. (For awhile!) No one every unpacks there bags permanently, of course. (Unless they're content with stagnation and the status quo, which you most certainly are not!) So it will be a time of rest before you start yet another Fool's journey.

Consider that a birthday reading for ya. LOL <img src="/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

All I can say is that is one awesome reading you got for yourself, Janey! What a year you'll be having! :music:

Btw, I know I recommend this book a lot, but I think Power Tarot is the best all-around Tarot book out there, especially for beginners: Power Tarot

The only drawback is that they don't discuss reversals. A book you may be interested in:

<img src="/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" /> Thank you so much for the insight, Queenie! LOL I've just printed this out and added it to my own notes. I just knew there was significance there, and after I posted, I went back to look at my little booklet....that's when I caught the "0" to "21" thingy too! And the fact that there weren't any reversals I guess means the energy is moving forward!

Funny thing, I'm just allowing this all to unfold day by day, keeping my intentions out there for what I want. It's so counter to the way I've handled things in the past, which was: think, analyze, work, think, analyze, work...LOL Sheesh, I'd naw on an issue like a dog with a bone, analyzing every conceiveable angle, feeling the pressure of having to control it all and 'make things happen'.

This time, my journey is so inward...which is manifesting itself on the outside environment anyway!

These cards are awesome! I just really fell more in love with them after reading your piece on Lucy... <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> Thanks for the recommendation on the book, too! (Uh, if my hubbie starts to complain that my library is overtaking the house...GUESS WHO I'm going to blame?? LOL <img src="/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> )

Love,
Janey

LOL! My darling husband made way for yet ANOTHER huge bookcase in my dining room which is now more of my office/library! Yes, yes, I admit it...it's all my fault! MWHAHAHAHA! <img src="/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

All cards face up definitely means energy moving forward! When a card is reversed, that can mean a slowing down of the energy represented in the card, as well as a stagnation. I'm not so sure it's the total oppposite meaning of the upright meaning, as much as it's the slowing down/stagnation of the energy represented in the card.

Does that make sense?

(And boy, I so get your drift regarding the analyzing! My own worst enemy sometimes is my left brain, I think!)

Much love to you  ,
