Hello!

I've just posted 2 articles about the subject of Tarot:

Power Tarot - Book Review Power Tarot is a book that provides far more than just 100+ spreads, showing you how to read each of the 78 cards of the Tarot in different scenarios.

Tarot Spreads Here are 4 original Tarot spreads that Ive developed: The Inner Child Spread, The Tree Spread, The Amazing Grace Spread, and The Synergy Relationship Spread.

Do you read Tarot? What Tarot and oracle decks do you own and use? What is your favorite deck/s and card/s? I'd love to know!

Hi,

I just started using the tarot, and the deck that I own is the Albano-Waite Tarot. I love this deck. I had the opportunity to choose 1 of 3, and this deck just called to me.

Does that sound crazy? :music:

Hi Tami!

Nope, that doesn't sound crazy. I hear that a lot, actually. I bought my first deck online (Inner Child Cards) and while I love the beautiful artwork and the correlation with fairy tales, I just can't "read" with them. (Plus, those cards are very over-sized.)

I love computer generated decks, and after the Inner Child Cards, I bought the Archetype Storytelling Deck. http://thecards.com When I first saw The Quest online, I thought the sample cards were breathtaking. When I got my own deck, it clicked with me in a big way. The Wisdom Well Jungian archetype deck is neat, too, but that's not traditional Tarot.

Feel free to stop by and share your journey with Tarot, Tami! I'd love to hear about it.

Janey, I got my Quest Tarot, and I totally loved, but I feel like I'm putting off opening the plastic cover around the deck (I keep reading the book), because I am not ready. I feel like the Tarot want me to clean up my house, and get rid of all the empty boxes and brush my hair, and dress well before I as much as touch them!

Now that probably did sound crazy. Do you do any preparations before a read?

Did you just call me Janey? eek Or was that a typo?

Hehehe.

Well, I've read how some people put their decks in a Tarot bag or scarf, and some people put crystals on the deck or "smudge" them with sage to "clear out the energies". (Especially if a deck doesn't seem to be "reading" well.)

Personally, I'm not into woo woo. (I'm such an everyday mystic! LOL) I'm wanting to get a bag for my Quest deck, but for now, it's in the cardboard box it came in. I don't really do personal readings anymore, but when I do the AstroTarot Forecasts, or read for myself, I take a moment to say a prayer to God to lead and guide me. I'm pretty no-frills, I guess.

If you feel to create your own personal ceremony or something, by all means go with that.

It's a gorgeous deck and the black and white pictures in the book simply do not do the beautiful pictures justice! The cards are so smooth...just wait til you open the deck!

Let me know when you do, and what you think of them.

Ooh, I'm so excited about these cards!!! I finally opened them and read them! It was such a good idea. Screw the marble tables and silk scarves, they work very well without it!

I did Celtic Cross (worked REALLY well), a daily three, and hexagramm.

All of it was perfect!

Which spreads do you use?

Aren't they gorgeous?!

I've never done a Celtic Cross, and usually just stick to very simple spreads such as the 3 card Past/Present/Future spread or just drawing one card.

Do you plan on buying a Tarot bag for them or anything? I'm having a hard time finding anyone that sells them in my area.

They're totally gorgeous. They might be too smooth though, because when you put them on a not-completely-horizontal surface they slide off.

Never heard of a tarot bag, I don't think I should get that. If I want it, I'll probably will make it myself or something. *shrug* Is it really important or something?

Why didn't you do CC? It only looks complicated at first, but after the first dozen times you remember all positions and all they represent. It even gave me a timeline, with these cards!

Also, I really like that there is inbuilt functionality with these cards on color of skin/hair/eyes. Before that, I could only approximate...

Nope, tarot bags aren't important. I just want one to hold my cards is all. Llewellyn makes a bag and I've contacted them about getting one so I could write a review on it.

Yes, those cards are definitely smooth! That's one of the reasons I love 'em, though. You could always read on a cotton towel or something to prevent them from sliding.

To be honest, I don't use Tarot cards for divination purposes. I believe that any attempts at divining the future is really just an examination of the present current energies. Since most people don't change, you can predict the future because they'll still be heading in the same direction due to their habits.

I only read for myself, not others. Meaning, I only use the cards to assess insight in a situation based on my own personal concerns. (Of course, doing the monthly AstroTarot forecasts are an exception, but I mean in terms of doing personal readings.) So, I'm never using the cards to be a "spiritual voyeur" on others. I already have clairaudience, clairvoyance, and clairsentience feeding me a boatload of information as it is!

I tend to see the cards as a meditative tool more than anything.

Does that make sense?

As such, I don't really need any complicated spreads and have never been drawn to them. That's just me.
