Do a lot of you belong to spinning and weaving guilds, or are you "on your own"? There is a guild not too far away from me, but the times for the meetings clash with my schedule. Sadly, I've only been to one meeting, but it was SO MUCH FUN! This summer when my children aren't in school, I should be able to go to more meetings.

I attended my first guild meeting two weeks ago. It was a wonderful experience and they were a lovely group of people!

Meetings are held once a month about one hour away from my home. I spent a few uncomfortable moments alone as the member who invited me hadn't arrived yet. But I was soon approached by two other members who led me to the beginner's circle where I was able to sit at a wheel (just like the one I had purchased the day before) and spin with one-on-one instruction! There were also 10-12 vendors with fiber, books, spinning wheels, and a few spindles there.

I have no basis for comparison but I was really impressed by what this group offered. I'm disappointed that their May gathering will occur while I'm away on vacation! <img src="/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />
