Hi ladies,
I'm new here. I have two kids and have been married for 15 years. I enjoy scrapbooking and reading. I was wondering if anyone had some good humorous book recommendations for light springtime reading?

My book club just finished reading "Don't Put Lipstick on the Cat" by Debbie Farmer. If you haven't read it yet, I recommend it if you need a fast and funny read. Are there any other funny parenting books out there youd recommend?

Nice to meet you all!

Hi BensMom

Welcome. I have not read Don't Put Lipstick On the Cat. But the title makes me smile. So I will buy it.

What about an older book, but still funny and that's Erma Bombeck's Just Wait Till You Have Children of Your Own!

Hi Ben's Mom,

Tell me more about your book club. I would love to join an online book club. Working at home leaves me rather isolated and I'm looking for intellectual contacts.

Hi,

Pehaps Work & Family can also help you feel less isolated. I have plans to get it started again in June. As a matter of fact we have a published author in our midst. Work & Family feature writer Christine Hohlman has written a delightful book on parenting titled Diary of a Mother: Parenting Stories And Other Stuff. I planned to start with that one and move on to some summer reading. So stay tuned

By the way what do you like to read?

Humorous parenting books are always fun. I hope to have parenting author Christine Hohlman visit us to talk about her book.

I'm a voracious reader and will read almost anything--except books about wars. I go to the library weekly and pick 3 books randomly off the shelf. If I don't like one, I'll put it down and start another.

I've never been involved in a book club, but I remember how much I enjoyed the philosophy classes in college because we sat around and talked about the book we were reading. Anyone who can turn me on to a book club will have my appreciation.

That's a great attitude about reading. I think it's only way to really enjoy books. I have been reading and reviewing books for the past 2 months so I have not read anything for pleasure recently. I hope to get to the mall sometime this week. Trying to decide if I want to read the Da Vinci Code. IOr maybe I'll find something lighter.

Vannie,

If you tell me what you decide to read, I can try to find it too and we can start our own book club!

Jean if you could see my face you would see a really big smile right now. We will do that and hopefully others will join our talks When you go to the library what kind of books do you take out? What have you read recently, then I will have an idea of what you enjoy.

Vannie,

Let's do it. I certainly hope others will join us! As I mentioned before, I read anything except stories about war. I suggest we read a book about women's issues. I would be happy to use a book list to pick one, but it would need to be available in my library. Is that what you would like, for me to pick one and make a suggestion? I'd be happy to.

Jean
