Long before there were those annoying e-mails from strangers <img src="/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" /> that flood our pc's and laptops, there was another SPAM.

A quiet phenomenon has been taking place. Although you do not see much advertising for the product and no one will admit to eating SPAM, its consumer sales reached six-billion in July 2002 king

So what does this tell us? Somebody out there is eating SPAM <img src="/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> I always keep a can in my food cabinet because my mom did. Once in a while when I am home and alone I make myself a fried SPAM and scrambled egg on toast sandwich. Yum.

If you have a favorite recipe for SPAM please share it in our forum. Don't worry we'll keep it in the Family <img src="/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" />

p.s you can see the full article at Work and Family.

That's too funny, I wonder if people are trying SPAM because they hear about it in email all the time and are curious about the name. I'm really very sensitive to salt so I've stayed away from it assuming that it is probably salty ...?

Hi Lisa,

LOL. I thought of this because yesterday a co-worker and I were talking and she mentioned that she liked SPAM but she said it in such a quiet voice that we both started to laugh. We decided that no one likes to admit that they eat SPAM <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Also, yes, SPAM is saltly like most packaged luncheon meats <img src="/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" /> oh! I believe I read that there is a reduced salt SPAM. Would you believe that have a 'hot and spicy' SPAM? These people have been around since 1937.

I remeber eating Spam when I was a child, so I tried it again a couple of months ago. eeeoooo! I guess my tastes have changed. I did not care for it.
Yes, Lisa, it was salty.

mmmm, maybe you should try the hot and spicy spam <img src="/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />
Lynne, I do admit I could not have SPAM more than once every couple of months. I guess that part of me has remained a child. Come to think of it. I haven't had in a very long time. eek

Taste buds are very particular and uniquely our own. I had a girl friend who would not even touch bologna (boloney - sp??)

Hey, so did I <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> I think there is some kind of funny connection, but I can't remember. Maybe someone else will know.

The connection is the famous Monty Python skit that goes "spam spam spam spam spammedy spam!" as they sing about the glories of spam. The point was that they go on and on and on about it, just like spam does <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Funny how Monty Python affects our daily life <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

It sounds like SPAM is probably not a food for me, for some reason the more I eat low carb / i.e. fresh vegetables and not processed things, the lower my tolerance for salt. A lot of restaurant dishes now taste salty to me and I ask them to make it with little salt for it to come out a way I like it.

I used to love SPAM as a kid. It was cool to use the little key to open the can.

I haven't tried it in years. But...I do still eat Scrapple! <img src="/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

LOL. Maria, yes it was cool to use the key.

Have you ever somehow broken the little tab with the key? The grownups had to step in to help open the can. I have never had Scrapple. I don't remember my mom ever buying it. It is like SPAM? I won't ask why it is called Scrapple
