Above is another link I found about a fifteen year old girl donating her hair which she had never had cut in her life and was below her knees!! And she had all in all four feet of hair cut for Locks of Love! This is too much considering the fact that Locks of Love don't need such a long donation. What will happen with the four feets of beautiful hair? Certainly it is too long and will never be made in a wig and the little girl with her beautiful long hair has cut her hair for nothing!


I think it isn't good that some young girls are forced by their parents to donate their hair for Locks of Love so that they will come in the newspaper and everybody can see what a selfless daughter they have. It is a nice thing if the girls really want to donate by themselves but not if they are brainwashed by the news or the parents.

It was Amy's decision too to grow her hair out for 18 months in order to achieve the required length to donate for Locks of Love. Ten inches would have left her with hair to the shoulders but what is very remarkable Amy wanted to donate 5 more inches so that she had very short hair but a long donation (15 inches). She had never had her hair that short and this was a big change for her.

We missed her beautiful long blonde mane in the next weeks but her hair grow back. The donation was in summer and now her hair is just above the shoulders. She wants to grow her hair down to her waist again. Perhabs she will than donate her hair again to Locks of Love.

How old is your daughter? When will she donate her hair to Locks of Love? How many inches does she want to donate? How long is her hair and which colour does it have?

My daughter is almost 15. Her hair is to her shoulders. It is blonde/brown and curly. I'm not sure how much she wants to donate , she hasn't said much more about it.

I think that is so wonderful, esp for such a young girl. That is an interesting article about Locks of Love but I would still consider doing it myself. My little cousin did it too. I am esp amazed by kids who understand how valuable something like hair can be for a child, since I assume kids' hair goes to other kids.

The truth is that LoL does NOT give hairpieces to kids with cancer; it says so right on their website.

The truth is also that LoL has plenty of hair and often sells the hair--which means that when you dream of your hair on the head of a little kid, it may indeed be on Paris Hilton.

Frankly, if I were going to donate to them I'd give them money. I think it's incredibly deceptive of LoL to not work harder to defeat the image of the hair going to kids with cancer and to continue to ask for hair rather than saying "we have enough, please send money instead." Especially when you consider the number of people who grow their hair specifically for LoL, grooming it carefully while imagining the joy of the child who will receive it when in fact some rich woman might buy it as a wig, or those who don't really want to cut their hair yet are pressured into doing it. I'm amazed by the number of people who, after donating, learn about LoL's deceptive practices and are immediately incensed and wish they had their hair back.

Thats wonderful :-D I decided a few days ago that I am finally going to cut my VERY long hair. It's becoming too unmanageable and because of that, I get knots VERY easily which does not make my hair look very healthy. I'm only going to cut off about 10-12 inches (I dont want it TOO short) and then donate to Locks of Love. An exboyfriend of mine who had long hair did the same thing.

Its so sweet that Amy cares so much to do this. Her hair is going to make someone very happy someday, and its amazing that in todays world a child can be that loving, caring, and selfless. <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

My sixth year old daughter donates her first ever haircut to locks of love. Before the cut her beautiful hair was more than 2 feet long and she was able to donate 14 inches of her pretty golden locks!

That is so great! Amy obviously has a beautiful heart to go with her beautiful hair. I just went from almost waist length hair to a bob and sent the difference to Locks of Love myself.
