Why not just go up to him and say "Hi, remember me? I'm so and so." If he remembers you, maybe you can start asking him what he's been up to and let the convo unfold.

If he doesn't remember you, you can remind him of where you met/how you knew each other and see if that sparks his memory...and then go from there.
