Has anyone tried this yet? In my area, they're running TV commercials offering a "free bag" for anyone who wants to try it. (It's actually a rebate certificate you can print up on their website.)

It's dust-free, and the pine neutralizes urine smell. The urine slowly decomposes the little wood pellets into sawdust, and when they have all turned into sawdust, it's supposedly OK to use it in your yard as compost(!).

Anyway, I'm really impressed so far.

Please post if you have any experience with this - I'm curious to know whether it works in the long run.

OK, we've been using this for a little while now, and I still like it. The only possible drawback is that it seems to get used up faster than the clumping litter would. But, I'm going to keep using it because I love how much cleaner it is, with no dust, probably no radio-activity (unlike regular cat litter), and it seems much more environment-friendly.

The cats also don't seem to mind it. That's a relief.

One warning - when you place it in your cat's box, be sure to follow the instructions and place ONLY one inch in the box. This is because it increases in depth exponentially over time as it turns into sawdust.

[color:"purple"]i've been using it and prefer it over the clumping stuff.

what i do when i'm taking out the hard stuff is also take out the sawdust that has accumulated...if needed i add some more fresh pellets...[/color]

I've seen the commercials running in our area and am very curious how the cats cover up their 'business'. You mentioned the pine nuetralizes the uring smell, but what about the other. Do your cats try and cover it with the pellets? Do you end up cleaning it our more often?

[color:"purple"]no, i haven't been cleaning it more often - still taking the hard stuff out every day or so (like i always have).

they can still cover-up - after a few days the pellets turn to sawdust, so there's a mix of it & the pellets for them to use to cover the hard stuff...there is an odor with the hard stuff (at least with my kitten - he's particularly smelly ) but it doesn't really matter as that stuff should be pulled daily anyhoo...

they are offering a free bag - just go to their website: www.felinepine.com

give it a try - see if you AND your cat(s) like it...

i DO have to say that i recently was sick & couldn't deal with the box too well. a friend came over & i asked if they could smell the box (it's in the kitchen at the moment). answer was NO! when i showed how bad the box was, she was amazed!!! 3 weeks of not pulling anything...it was all sawdust at that point & had some hard stuff in it - NO odor at all!!

oh, and fyi...they will be coming out with a scoopable version soon...
