My boyfriend and I are going to a toga party and have decided to go as Bacchus and Ariadne. Other than grape leaves around our heads, any ideas to enhance our costumes?

Ariadne helped Thesues by giving him a ball of thread so that he could find his way back out of the Labryinth after slaying the Minotaur, so I suggest a big ball of yarn as a prop.

LOL!! That's a great idea... But by the time Ariadne became Bacchus' wife, Theseus had left her sobbing on an island. Would she really want a reminder of the cad?

Well, considering you've picked a rather obscure character, there's isn't much to designate her. If I were you, I'd be prepared to explain over and over all night who you were. I mean, what does the daughter of the king of Crete look like?

And it wasn't like she had a happy life with Dionyus either.... He found her pregnant by someone else, and then she was killed by Aphrodite on the island of Dia over something that Dionysus said.

I think you'd do better going as one of the Dionysian accolytes, a Meanad. You could smear your toga, face and hands with fake blood and dance around the god, singing his praises all night and pretending to attack other male guests at the party periodically.....

Well, we had a great time. However, most people were too drunk to even care what we were wearing. It's ironic that we were the most sober people there. <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
