Wonder if there's a direct proportion between someone's intelligence and the complexity of the life she's chosen?

I'm 57; my life chose me! Whomever it was that said, "Life is what happens while you are making other plans" was not kidding...I do not know one single living soul who does not have a complex life...I tried my best to keep it simple and had no luck what so ever; if one is remotely responsible then complexity will follow...such IS life.

The adage, Keep it Simple Stupid does suggest that Smarties Keep it Complex.<G> I think, and this is really just my opinion, that gifted people will always be looking at the prismatic nature of life, and this tends to make their lives a little more complex than others. OTOH, when I have utterly confused myself with "If I do thus, this will happen, and then that could happen..." and start to think like a kitten with a ball of wool...I go to the other side of my brain, which is located in my husband, and get the straight answer from him. Oh how it pleases him when I trust him with an important question, admiting that I don't have all the answers...I never realized how powerful this tactic is before I met him and even in our early years together. (His predecessors were pretty dumb...actually; he is my first smart man.) By the time I've finished explaining the problem, I may even have sorted it out, but it is a pleasure to see how quickly and surely he processes the information, and how often his conclusions are so much more effective than mine would have been. He is very bright in his own right, and yes, he does exactly the same thing that I do with his own great questions. Tries to see all the elements, all the places where the plan could fail, until it has become so complicated that sometimes it is really very silly. How special I feel that his important decisions are about our family and the rest of the world is pretty much left to its own devices.
Sometimes I wonder why he makes things complicated, but it is his way of trying to make sure all the possibilities are covered, that no threat can sneak in under his radar. Still, when I've confused myself with the same behavior, he is able to see clearly and directly, straight to the answer I was seeking.

Wow, that is about as good a commendation as a human being can get, let alone a husband. Congratulations!

Roni, you at 57 are light years ahead of me at 67. I have relative simplicity, yet I spend hours figuring out ways to reintroduce complexity.

As to doing it when you have the opportunity, I'll go even further and state that the only things I regret are the things I didn't do, and I regret very little.

Hello Roni:

I've slurked some of the other forums and admired that line of yours on some other mentally stimulating responses to life's big questions. It's nice to meet you here.

Ditto on Dune's life of little regret. Missing a chance to make up after a fight count just as much as failing to take the time to savor a sunset.

Howdy to you both. I must admit I have met many more congenial women online than in my 3-D life.

Trust me I would slay dragons...well, I would look at them, be amazed, and they would eat me BUT it would be an adequet portion even for them..but I digress. Adrenaline junkies(which I know in multitudes and alas I married one) are beyond me. GIVE me Boredom and Simplicity I beg of you... Helllooo!! No one is listening. Right now I'm actively trying to downsize( NOT me...my stuff) and it is a long slow slog. BUT I shall prevail! Want some chatchkas?? I got some gooduns! I'll be back... :rolling:

Hold on! Don't kill that Dragon. It might be me! According to venerable Chinese horoscope, I am Dragon in the Rain. So, hold off slaying until you're sure it's not me or any of my friends, okay? I promise not to roast you.
Losing clutter is one of the most salubrious things you can ever do. It frees the mind for other, more interesting activities, like how to get rid of the bores in one's life.<G>

To be devoured by such a creature would indeed be an honor, Although if virginity is required; we are decades away from being qualified over here!

Clutter is not the biggest problem, oddly enough. I come from a longline of antiquers and I am talking oak china cabinets, tables, cedar chests, rocking chairs...it is too bad my Mom is a state away because she still has a shop and a fixit guy.

George Carlin is right; you start to get stuff so you move into a space so all your stuff has a place to fit. But then you eventually you have too much stuff so you acquire another bigger space and of course that leaves you with open space and then you need more stuff AND after 40 or so years...well, I am waaaaay overstuffed...

I am too lazy to have a sale and too cheap to let dealers come and steal it from me...a housefire! That's the ticket...wait I have to get my Favorite stuff...see it never ends!

Good thing I am an exestentialist(sp?) and what I cannot see does not exist. Are you Really there? Am I? See no clutter....yahahaha!

Roni, Roni, I hear you! You say it all! As to your being far from married to a bore, I wonder if eventually we all become bores to those who have to listen to us year after year. I think not. My kids have the gift of perpetually fresh perspectives. A half-hour with my oldest invariably includes at least two topics brand-new to us both and tremendously interesting. The Internet is a great part of it, but not all.

As has Madame Editor, I've seen and appreciated your posts in other Bella forums. Nice site, huh?

I'm skirting the issue of your antiques, but I surrender. Where are you? I just bought a cottage in Maine.

Best regards for a snowy day. Enjoy.

I know...me too. Did she say "China Cabinet?!" Oh, the stuff I could put into one of them if I had one. hahahahahahahah!
Let it Snow!
MES

P.S. This Dragon does not devour virgins. That would be very, very wasteful. Besides, they're probably really high in carbs.

Virgins probably are either high in carbs from sweetness and virtue or too young and quick to devour as they would not be worth the trouble of rooting out what with being so small and all...

I am in Missouri...in my little(900 or so square feet)log cabin by a lake with more shoreline than Florida and California. If I can figure it out maybe I could post pictures. We have had bald eagles in the cove the last few days. It was 64 two days ago and we have a windchill of 12 below right now...no snow(shhh, do not tell anyone or they will want to give us some of theirs!)

Bald eagle, wow!

P.S. It's not nice to devour endangered species (virgins).

Bald virgins?Or is that ribald virgins??

It's not too difficult to have an high amount of unexpected and varied wildlife when the humanity is in such short supply. In the summer we sell more personal watercraft and high powered boats here than Florida(or so the ads would have us believe...) We have Eagle Days the 8th of January. Park Rangers have injured non flying eagles to see up close; as well as a setup with telescopes so you can see them on the river below the dam...I'd rather sit on my sofa and look out my window. I'll see if the spousal unit has pictures I can post. :rolling:
