Meg I was wondering if you could please help settle a debate my husband and I are having?

I homeschooled my children in the primary grades and then put them back in public school. My oldest has not done well the last two years and in fact this year he did so poorly that I'm buying a curriculum for the summer. The issue really isn't that he can't do it, it's that he sees school more as a social club than an education.

The debate is that I think the summer school curriculum should be based on the year he just completed (review and skill building to prepare for next year) and my hubby thinks it should be based on the coming year (preparedness). What do you think?

Your local bookstore (chain store, that is) should sell a program called "Summer Bridge".
It's a curriculum specifically for summer only homeschooling.

It reviews the year prior (based on national norms)and introduces some new stuff.

You also have the option of buying a curriculum just for the subjects he may need most help in, but don't expect to finish the whole thing.

Cheryl - there is an amazon link with the middle school Summer Bridge, so I am sure they sell the other grades as well.
