We use Story of the World, it's aimed at younger students and does introduce some mythology.
I think learning about mythology is vital to learning world history and world cultures. I mean, how can you learn about the Norse or the Greek without mythology in there? Same with Native Americans, without their stories and myths studies wouldn't be nearly as interesting.
You can approach the topic as you wish, whether as fact or stories, or a combination of both.
