A few weeks ago, I was looking to see what everyone's favorite anime. By the looks of the responses I've gotten, I guess no one watches anime. So, I'm asking the question "Doesn't Anyone Watch Anime?"

I enjoy anime a lot and have a few DVDs but I really don't watch a lot of TV. I grew up on ... oh I'm having a mental block on this It was a team of 4 guys and a girl in a spaceship that turned into a flaming phoenix. I used to really like that. And of course I was a fan of Akira when that came out.

I really like the sort-of-romantic-couple-fighting-against-all-odds ones. I guess that's why the Final Fantasy series appeals to me so much, it's sort of like a guided animated story.

The anime that you're talking about was first called Gatchaman I in the early 1970's. However, when it was translated in English, the series was entitled Battle of the Planets, often called G-Force, which ran from 1978-79. Then, Turner Entertainment's Cartoon Network created G-Force: Guardians of Space (1987, 1995), which stayed closer to the original Gatchaman series. It was when Saban Entertainment bought the rights to Gatch II and Gatch Fighter, that the Eagle Riders series was created and ran from 1996-97.

The characters of Battle of the Planets was Mark, Jason, Princess, Tiny and Keyop.

Really, it was only 1978 to 1979 for that first round? I remember running home to see it and being so fond of it. Sometimes I liked the leader and sometimes I liked his rogueish adversary. I was impressed at the time that they had a female warrior alongside them although as I recall she was in pink and was more of a thinker than a fighter

I got Princess Mononoke when it came out on DVD and my sister borrowed it. She didn't realize that it wasn't a Disney-type cartoon and saw it with her 8 year old son who apparently then had nightmares afterwards. Hmmmmm.

I watch anime!!! My husband and I just got broadband and download about a gig a day of fan subs. Lately we have been watching a weird jungle series about a girl named Guu ;-) (the guy's name escapes me). My favorites are Fushigi Yugi and Angelic Layer. I want to get Castle in the Sky... is Disney ever going to release it? I wish they wouldn't buy the rights if they are just going to sit on them! Anyway, I LOVE anime :-)

That anime is Jungle is Always Hare & Guu and it is so silly, but I've heard that some people really like it.

As of May 2002, Disney still haven't given a release date for Castle in the Sky. However, Spirited Away, one of Miyazaki's, is coming out on Sept. 20th.

Yes, I got the fan sub to Spirited Away a while back. I *love* it and have watched it many, many times! It will be great when it comes out on DVD.

The Jungle is incredibly stupid, but that's probably part of its charm ;-) I've also been catching up on Those Who Hunt Elves... was especially amused by Junpei's toilet paper episode.

Anime!!! ^.^ Yes i watch anime. I've seen most of the anime you pplz are talking about except for Gatchaman and Jungle is Always Hare & Guu.

Mononoke Hime was a great movie, i loved the story and all. Sen to Chihiro Kamikakushi (Spirited Away) was also a master piece by Hiyao Mayazaki, i loved the movie, great story, animation and so forthe. Sad yet happy ending though.

The current anime i'm watching is some Record of Lodoss War. Some of my favorite animes are Sailor Moon, Dragon Ball/ Z/ GT, Tenkuu no Escaflowne, and Inu Yasha.

Also, Kyasarin, if your looking for a helper or someone to livin up, like a co-host for the anime forum, i would love to help. But it doesn't seem like many like anime...poooh ^.^
