You know, once a while back I had a lady commission me to do portraits of her bearded dragons. I had never heard of them before.. so I thought she had a collection of dragon sculptures! I went on and on about how I can't infringe on copyright.. the poor woman, it took a few minutes to clarify that they were real animals!

That's a good one I wish I could see the picture. They are very pretty animals. How many did she have? Diana

She had two, they were really friendly too. Sadly, I painted this back when I knew nothing about copyrights or intellectual property rights. Now, I know that I could have made copies of the picture to sell, oh well.

I've had my dragon less than a year and continue to learn from her. Her features, colors, and of course size keep changing with time. Something particularly interesting was a feeding problem I had with mine (a 10" long beauty named "Tek"). Until today, she wouldn't eat anything that wasn't a cricket for ANY reason.
I tried dozens of different ways to present the veggies and leafs to her. Chopped, shredded, in a bowl, on the floor, in my hand, in my fingers, holding out a chard leaf to her, etc. Motionless, moving, slow, fast, warm, cold, wet, dry, and so on.
Nothing worked. Until, that is, success! Apparently, all these efforts were interpreted by her brain as being "ground"-based. Leaves apparently should be up in the tree-tops, human!
All I did today was clip the veggie leafs to some plastic clips that suction-cup about 4" up the side of her cage and she ravaged them like Jaws.
What a difference the presentation made. My worries about her all cricket and supplement diet are now reduced.
Hope this helps someone else.
Now, I get to introduce her at last to the toe-nail clipper (with blood-stop agent nearby, of course).
John

Diana, just so you know, a LOT of people read your forum
To all concerned, thank you so much for your interest in my dragon images, and thank you for all your helpful suggestions on copyright, and getting my work back. Just so there is no confusion, I am well aware of copyright laws, and am comfortable with not making the attempt to find that particular painting. It was painted many years ago, and is not evidence of my skills now.
For those who want custom paintings of their pets, I am happy to discuss this with any of you, but as of right now there is a LONG waiting list for commissioned works, and I would not be able to get it done by christmas. Terribly sorry, but I must work on a first come first serve basis, and no I cannot put off someone else's work to sneak another one in for x-mas. Next year I will be happy to post when I start accepting commissions for christmas, usually it is in early spring.
Once again, thanks for all the interest, and Diana, your forum is read by many

John, I love to hear it when someone tells me they learn from their pets. It is amazing what I learn by just observing them. I think that is an excellent suggestion and I am sure over time it well benefit many people. I guess we need to look out of the eyes of animals, to better understand their needs. Diana

Jessica, I have hopes for this forum, to contain a vast amount of information for pet owners to make proper choices. We all have discovered ways to better take care of our kids, and it is so wonderful to have a forum to share and discuss this information. Look, at the post from John, who would have known! Bella Online is the place to be to learn and share information Diana
