What do you consider a great wine gift?

Wine Enthusiast has a great umbrella that will make a great gift for some wine lovers that I know.

I received wine charms as a gift. They are really cute and you can get them at many major wine or kitchen stores. Its such a nice gift because it wasn't something I would buy for myself, but they are really cute and help my guests remember which wine is theirs!

That's what is so great about wine "goodies." There are many things that I wouldn't purchase for myself, but a joy to receive. (I like to spend my money on wine :rolling: )

That is so true!

One of my friends received a catalog with a bunch of other "wine goodies" like wine racks and stuff. Do you have any idea what catalog that might be? I can def. ask her but thought someone else might know too. Might be Wine Enthusiast, but I thought it was something else.

I love the wine saver. It is the thing that pumps all the air out of your wine so you can actually keep your wine longer before it starts to turn. This is only good for those of you that don't finish your whole bottle that night!
Another favorite is the wine chillar- the kind that slides right on to your bottle and it will keep the wine chilled for up to three hours. It's also good if you have a bottle that needs to be chilled-it's chilled in 15 min!!!
Cheers!
Linda

Wine Enthusiast has some great items. If you like to order on line you can also visit www.wine.com.

The wine vacume that Linda mentioned is a great tool. Some don't like it. They think it makes the wine taste dead.

The killer is oxidation. When I have a red that I've pumped the air out of, I sometimes put in the refrigerator. The cold slows the oxidation. When I'm ready to finish the bottle at the end of the week I pull it out, and allow it warm to about 65F.

A decanter also makes a nice wine gift. Many red wine lovers don't bother getting one for themselves because they think of it as too fancy.
