I was wondering if anyone could tell me about organic cosmetics. From my understanding (which is very little), most cosmetics have hormones in them? I'm in the process of trying to eliminate articifical hormones from my body (as I figure it can only help my breast cancer never come back). With food, it's easy to figure out if its organic or not, but with cosmetics, I'm at a loss.
Does anyone have any info for me? Any and all would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hi Colleen. Unfortunately, there are no organic cosmetics out there. Well, not true ones anyway. And if you do come across one, the only sure way to know that it's organic is if it has a shelf life. Organic means pure, natural, no additives, no preservatives and all cosmetics and skin care lines have them.
Remember, if it's all natural, then it needs to be refrigerated and it will have an expiration date.

Here's what I found. They still have some non-organic ingredients but the nice thing is that all ingredients are listed on the website and you can even find out what each ingredient does. Hope this helps: http://www.organicmakeup.ca/index.htm

I have a book titled INNER PEACE, OUTER BEAUTY which is a collection of traditional Japanese beauty treatments and recipes. As everything in the book is made from plants, fruits, grains or seaweed, you could make anything in this book in an organic version based on the ingredients you buy. It doesn't have makeup, but as far as skin and hair care, this has a ton of recipes.

Dr. Hauschka has natural and "holistic" products. They work well but are expensive. I would suggest going to a Whole Foods and looking around. They may have some organic ones. Good luck!
