My recommendation would be to get some information from the folks who run the windjammer cruises. They should be able to tell you what you will need on the trip. Cruise lines generally offer you lots of information prior to the trip so that you can be prepared. They don't want you to bring too much but they certainly don't want you to be unprepared.
There are forums like Cruise Addicts and seasoned travelers gladly share their expertise. There could even be books written on the subject.
Absolutely take a hat, safari hats or hats that have a brim that covers the back of your neck as well as offer a little relief from the glare would be very helpful. TravelSmith has a catalog that has lots of good suggestions for travelers. Even if you don't purchase from them, the ideas are invaluable.
The ships usually provide a wonderful array of food - I wouldn't think all the food would be Tahitian but they may have something one of the nights.
Bedding is something I would think is supplied by the ship. There again, you had better check with Windjammer and make sure of what you need to bring.
I am going on a barefoot windjammer cruise to Tahiti. Shall I take k-y jelly or just vaseline for a lubricant? I hear the weather is very humid there. How about a hat? Shall it be a straw one or just a baseball cap? Is it windy?
I want to look very trendy. I thought I would get a pareo to wear everyday...but is that too informal? Maybe I should have a formal gown? And how about the food? I hear they serve 8 meals a day! (I can use it - am very skinny!) But is the food native food like poi, or is it American? Should I bring a down quilt for the bed? Thanks. <img src="/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />
