Come on in and let's talk! Tell me which is your favorite science fiction, fantasy or horror series currently on television!!! And, have you heard about "The Haunted", "Push, Nevada" and the return of "The Twilight Zone"?? Among several other new scifi shows set for this Fall, these few have some great promise. What do YOU think?

The only thing I watch much of on the SciFi network is Crossing Over with John Edward...and I'm totally hooked on it. Problem is, it comes on so late during the work week, that I seldom see it all. Its run during the day too, on another cable station, but then I'm not home from work yet. But all summer... <img src="/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> ...I get to watch both times because I drive school bus and only work part-time during the summer.

Do you watch Crossing Over? I know it isn't really science fiction (or is it?) and theres alot of controversy on the SciFi message boards about it belonging there. I've never really believed in things like this before, but John Edward has gotten me thinking otherwise. Real or not, I find his show very entertaining and find myself hoping its true. He sure comes across as sincere.

I have had the opportunity to meet John Edwards and he seems to be a very nice person. I have also been raised in a family with varying and special "gifts", so John's alleged talent is very interesting to me.

Yes, I watch "Crossing Over" daily and I enjoy most seeing the skeptics at least come to some understanding that their deceased loved ones MAY still be around them!!!

As far as belonging on a SciFi board - well, where ELSE would the show go? I guess, paranormal studies or even within boards that have tarot or something. I wouldn't fight over it though - it is a unique show!

You met John Edward??? Did he do a reading for you??

I hear its really hard to get tickets for the gallery and there's a long wait. My youngest daughter is really hepped up on it. Its pretty expensive too. Its really heartwarming when he connects a parent with a child who has crossed over. I think we all tend to expect the loss from someone older, but the trauma of losing a child.....Whether the readings are real or not, I feel John Edward is doing a wonderful service to those people, by easing their pain and helping them to go on with their lives.

John did a reading for me and I offered him the information I received from a favorite piece of jewelry he carries. It was insightful and very soothing....

Yes, I hear the tickets are two years in advance right now.....not sure though how much they cost (?!). You might be able to find out more at his website.....I thought that they actually gave tickets to the first so-many callers on an 800 number once a month, but they may have stopped that because of his popularity.

I am weird, I guess. Riker = very nice! But, I preferred the alien-look like Warf!!! LOL

I always preferred Spock to James T. Kirk! (Uh oh, gave away my age, didn't I?)

Another show I really liked was "Babylon 5" - I have alot of the series on tape!!! Okay....enough of me...thank you for stopping in!!!

LOL,

Worf! Yes! I too preferred Spock to Kirk. That's probably why I also liked Picard. Sooooo coooool!

My other favorite show? Quantum Leap. I liked the humor of the show. Scott Bakula was also a nice guy hero.

I don't know about all you all but I am getting pretty excited about the new Battlestar Galactica. I hope that the female Starbuck gets to be as snarky and saucy and promiscuous as the old Starbuck got to be! I hope the female Starbuck is seriously saucy. Has anyone checked it out? When is it?

Caught Battlestar Galactica on the Sci Fi Channel last night and I would LOVE to see what other people thought about it. Though it was a little to sexy kids to watch.

Hello!

I think First Wave is the best sci-fi programme ever! It was a bit of a cult thing in the UK & not many people watched it... the last series hasn't been broadcast here yet. Does anyone know much about this? Did anyone here watch it? Has it been released on DVD in the USA or Canada?

I like Farscape (and am waiting for Peacekeeper Wars!)
Stargate SG-1, although I don't really like Stargate Atlantis (can't say why exactly...)
Smallville
Loved the old Twilight Zone
Ray Bradbury Theater
Star Trek DS9
And I can't wait for Earthsea on SciFi Channel!
I am sure there are more, I just can't think of any right now!

I'm a Trekkie from waaaaay back, and that will always be my first love. I especially love DS9 and Star Trek TNG

I've also recently started watching reruns of Andromeda on SPACE (the Canadian equivalent to the SciFi channel) and I'm liking it too.

I'm looking forward to the new BattleStar Galacticia, and I've heard rumors of a new V series too. Anybody else heard about that? Just curious:-)

If you can catch a Brit series called "Ultraviolet" do so. It is one of the best Sci Fi offerings in the last 10 years (IMHO).

Being a Trekkie of many years standing, I have admit that I enjoy both Original & Next Gen, though I've never been able to really get into the other ST series.

Love Stargate & Bab.5 and also enjoyed Andromeda when I saw it here.

Unfortunatley, I don't have cable, and in Australia that's where all the best SF is on TV.

I've heard of the new Battlestar - and am shuddering.

Give me a break, guys! John Edwards is a fake - that kind of "cold-reading" has been a staple at tent shows for more than a century. Have you ever seen the Amazing Randi do it - or take apart someone like Edwards who claims to "channel" the dead?
If there's a channel on TV for "suckers", Crossing Over belongs there, but NOT on the SciFi channel!

I'm with you, AJ. I have no patience for that sort of thing, I'm afraid! Maybe it's better considered a fantasy TV show.

Well, it's been canceled but my favorite Scifi show is Stargate SG-1. Stargate's are real you know, haha. The cool thing about Stargate though is that they've decided to continue it with DVD movies, the first "Ark of Truth" out March 11th. So it's as though it's not really canceled. Anyone interested can get more info on http://stargatehub.com/

Hi Everyone,

Battlestar Galactica is my ultimate favorite. I'm also a fan of Star Trek (mostly the New Generation and Voyager).

I really enjoy Heroes and Smallville too! And Supernatural smile

I've never watched Farscape or First Wave. I'll have to check and see if they are available on DVD and add them to my queue.

It's so hard to choose a favorite! For all-time favorite, it would probably come down to Star Trek -- either Voyager or Deep Space Nine. For current favorite, I would have to say Kyle XY. I know it isn't serious sci-fi, but I look forward to it more that Stargate Atlantis or Heroes.

Hi Dani,

I thought that Kyle XY looked interesting, but I've never watched. Has it been out long? That may be one I rent a season at a time on DVD.

My husband and I really liked Heroes and Journeyman. Now we're enjoying Terminator. I have to confess, I didn't see all the terminator movies and didn't remember the plot so it's all kind of new to me.

I love the girl who plays the machine on Terminator. She's great!

Kyle XY debuted in summer of 2006. The first season was only 10 episodes and is available on DVD now. The second season is still airing, but it will be 23 episodes when it is done.

This show is definitely "sci-fi lite" :-). You don't get a whole lot of techno-babble on this show; it is more about the emotions. One of my guilty pleasures is teen shows like Degrassi, so Kyle XY is a perfect blend of teen drama and special powers.

Another Trekkie here! I think the reason why I couldn't get into Stargate of Battlestar G. is because they are too militaristic for me.
A friend recently put me onto Quantum Leap and I got the first season and loved it! So funny and quirky, I can't wait to see the rest of the episodes.

I really enjoyed Quantum leap when it was on. I haven't watched a regular sci-fi series in a while though. I'm not good with series right now so I wait to get the DVD once the season is over. I have said I'll get into Battlestar Galactica once I get my Netflix queue caught up a bit smile

I'm a trekkie -- Grew up on repeats of ST:TOS and ST:TNG, but I really got into Babylon 5. Yes, it's old now, but it laid the groundwork for a lot of the Sci-fi shows that exist now (with regards to doing "new fangled CG" on a budget).

And the effects were not the heart of the story, either -- it was about people and their interactions, plus...actions have consequences. Heady stuff. smile

If you're lucky, you can catch the season sets on sale (fairly cheap).

That's Summer Glau (sp?). If you really like her you should rent Serenity. She's awesome in it. I hear she is also in the tv series Firefly which I saw at the video store for $19.99 (so tempted) but I haven't seen that one yet?

Moe - Serenity the movie is really the "ending episode" for Firefly so it has the same cast smile You sort of saw it backwards if you've seen Serenity but haven't watched Firefly yet. You should watch the series!

Probably a toss-up for me -- it's so hard to choose just one! I am a long-time trekkie, but I really enjoyed Eureka -- I want to move there! (Of course, if I had a holo-deck, I could recreate Eureka, and move in there... but having it for real would be better.)

I always enjoyed the original Star Trek series. I could never get into show like Deep Space Nine and whatever. Plus Quantum Leap. Those were the only real SCI FI shows I watched except for an older show, 60's I believe, was the Land of the Giants. I loved that show too.

The BBC series "Torchwood" is my favorite sci-fi show, probably ever! I adore everything about it. Except that fact that it isn't on often enough! The BBC series are only 13 episodes, and then it's at least a year between series. Drives me crazy!

I also love the new Dr. Who, but they are only doing 5 episodes this year. Wah!

I love Smallville - I think it's great. The one show that is my fave of all time is 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' though, I never miss an episode and me and my friends all watch the boxsets, it was fantastic and had such great female characters too.
I never got the whole Star Treck thing - I can't stand that show or the premise. I did like Tru Calling, but they cancelled it frown

Wow -- this could go for a while Early favorites (and I mean really early ) * Johnny Quest * Star Trek (original series) * Lost in Space (can't hardly watch them now but loved them when I was little -- when it didn't give me nightmares -- I was really little) Gone but not forgotten *Buffy *Angel *Firefly *Star Trek DS9 - for some reason I enjoyed this when no one else did -- Cisco took awhile to catch on, but Avery Brooks is an amazing actor. And I loved the romance that Warf had with Dax. It went downhill for me when Dax left. *Star Trek Next Gen *Highlander (can I slip this in) - it's sort of an all-time favorite *Roswell *Dresden - I was just getting into this when it disappeared *Farscape -- slow to catch on this one, but again, romance won me over. turned off a bit by the dark themes though Now favorites *Eureka -- knew I forgot something -- then saw someone else's list! *Doctor Who *Chuck (stretching the sci -fi tag a bit but it does have future tech and lots of lovely sci-fi references) *Heroes -- not keeping up so much anymore, but hoping to catch up *Lost -- though that's exactly where I am with Lost -- totally lost and behind -- but want to watch not so much for plot, which I wish had stuck with &quot;a bunch of people stuck on an island with a scary monster&quot; -- but for characters -- they bring out the darndest surprises and have really some of the best in-depth characters on television know there must be more I'm missing

My favorite of the old TV series are Star Trek, Quantum Leap and Buffy. Of the newer ones, I like Fringe and, I agree, Chuck could be considered Sci Fi. I think that show has gotten better over time too. It's really funny this year.

HA HA... I know Jilly, I have people tell me they can't believe I never got into Farscape.

Did the series end with a series finale, or did the network just drop it?

If it had an "ending" maybe I'll rent the DVDs.

I HATE when shows are just dropped, with no closure.

I so got into the new Sara Connor Chronicles (my son did too) and we were SOOOOO flippen' upset when they couldn't even bother to end it - they just dumped it!

So many of them over the years. X Files was probably my #1 but also loved Bionic Woman, Aeon Flux, Tomorrow People, Sliders, Outer Limits and these days I watch Invader Zim with my son which is a very funny cartoon.

There was also this awesome show on Cinemax called Forbidden Science that had cool story lines but way too much cheesy soft porn. Less sex more story would've made this a great show.

Seriously?? This thread is over eight years old? WOW!

I LOVE Fringe too! Dianne, I haven't see Walking Dead yet, but I keep hearing about how great it is. Guess I'll have to check it out!

My favorite was Stargate SG-1, and now I am a Eureka fan. I like my sci-fi tinged with humor.

The Walking Dead season was so good, but the season finale was kind of a let down. It's hard to believe that you can already pre-order the season on Amazon!

Fringe, Eureka, Doctor Who, Stargate SG-1, Stargate Atlantis, plus several more. It is so hard to choose a favorite! I've not seen The Walking Dead yet, but I'll have to check it out.

I watched the first episode of walking dead but lost interest - I bet though, without even seeing it - that every single character dies or is left for dead in the end - a rule of the zombie movie (graphic novel/TV show in this case LOL) - could be wrong LOL.

What a great thread. My all time favourite is still Babylon 5, I don't think anything has ever matched it for character and story development. I was a big fan of the original Battlestar Galactica series, but just couldn't get into the new one. Xena was a huge favourite - I watched it with my daughter every week. She is still a major Xena fan.

My little sister used to love Xena, I remember enjoying the first few series and then they made it a bit too silly (with that idiot who's Sam Raimi's brother in it)
I loved Callisto in it, and I really felt she deserved her revenge - I know Xena gave her the option to kill her at one point, and I was glad she didn't take it as it showed she was really a good person who was deeply disturbed. She was a really cool character though, I loved the fight scenes.

My favourite tv SciFi series was UFO. It was 1970 and they had us talking to each other on small screens and driving mad cars.

Straker with his white blonde hair and his button to the throat coats. Colonel Lake in her sexy outfits and Lts. Nina, Gay and Joan always knew just what they were doing on Moonbase in their silver jumpsuits and purple pageboy wigs.

Gone are the days when the scenery moves when someone shuts a door lol.

I've never got the whole Star Trek phenomona - I tried t watch the modern film that came out and had to turn it off before I punched the screen - the guy playing Kirk was SO abnoxious and annoying in it LOL.
I've heard the TV show's are better, but I find it funny how they all speak English.

Yes, Kirk WAS obnoxious; I think the point in the film was supposed to be that he was young there and grew out of the extreme attitude, just as Spock grew to control his emotions better as time went by.
However, I never really liked the original series and only became a Trekkie with The Next Generation and subsequent Trek series.
They all speak English thanks to that wonderful gadget, the Universal Translator, which ranks right up there with the transporter and the warp engine as innovations that haven't been invented yet. I can't wait!

Stargate Atlantis is the all time best sci-fi tv series in the entire galaxy for me! My boyfriend brought the entire boxset end of May and we have already watched every episode, terribly unhappy now!!!! Luckily I also love Stargate SG1 which we have started watching, 10 series and 2 movies to get through!!!! :D
