Oh Kitty, you are scratching up the place! <img src="/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

3 for Prime Time Kitty
1 for BiblioCat

Since it's later in the evening (here in Alabama) we'll wait until tomorrow to continue.

Are we ready to begin again? The next question is...

In the book The Princess Bride, who is the criminal in the Thieves Quarter from whom Yellin has been accepting bribes?

Wow, I have watched that movie tons of times, but I've never read the book! Was there really a book first? I thought that the movie was pretending there was a book, but that there really wasn't one ...?

Yuppers, there is/was a book! "The Princess Bride" written by S. Morgenstern and abridged by William Goldman. Only, S. Morgenstern doesn't exist. Curious?

Read more at http://www.smorgenstern.com/
it is kind of quirky and the book also has a 25th anniversary edition out.

CrngPrnt is correct! Ooooh a challenger to Prime Time Kitty.

3 Prime Time Kitty
1 BiblioCat
1 CrngPrnt

Next question. It's fairly easy this time, so you have to give me Title, Author, and Year of Publication.

What was the first English detective novel?

First detective story (U.S.) Boston, Edgar Allen Poe in 1841 "The murders in the rue Morgue".

BUT - for this question, the answer is.....(I hope!)-

First English detective story "The Moonstone" in 1868 by Wilkie Collins.
