Well I am working on some lessons and beginner projects for the knitting site and of course you never know I might have a little something up my sleeve for more advanced knitters :rolling:

Well, I have 4 different socks in progress. One is on 2 circs, the others on dpns. I also have a toddler sweater and an adult sweater (knit on the Bond USM) in various stages. I have a crocheted throw started in Lion Brand homespun. I'm sure there are other WIPs that aren't coming to me now. (Lots if we include my quilting projects!)

I just started spinning and I've created 2 lovely balls of single ply yarn. I'm working on my third bobbin full and will ply it with one of the first two for a real skein of yarn tonight.

I also just created my blog (topics include knitting, spinning, etc.). If only I didn't have to work to support these projects!

You are certainly busy eek ok we are going to enroll you into the "finish one project before starting another " class, hehehehehe. I try and work on one project at a time, but of course I buy yarn and patterns for all those "I'm gonna make it" projects. I'm off to see your blog.

I'm currently working on a project that is turning out to be more ambitious than I thought. I'm knitting new covers for the throw pillows on our couch. 4 pillows in all, so 8 sides (and I'm making each side different). I decided I'd go through books and old issues of Knitting to find patterns that I like but probably won't ever make into a sweater,or things that look too daunting to do for an entire sweater, and then knit them for my pillows.

Well, I've never been a master at guage, and my first cover came out smaller than I intended (but will still fit my pillow--barely!). The next pattern I picked doesn't match the dimensions of my pillow, and it's turning out to be much more challenging to alter the pattern than I expected!

At least I'm using yarn I really like (Brown Sheep Co's cotton/wool blend), so it's a pleasure to work with, but I'm thinking sooo hard!

I'm not one to have more than one thing going on at once, but maybe I'll start a couple of pillow sides, so that I can alternate between an intarsia pattern and some complicated cable thing.

Hey, somebody mentioned doing socks on two circulars. I always knit on circulars, so I'd love to hear more about that technique.

Happy knitting,
Becky

Just finished a color block cardigan for my 2 yr old grandson putting the different squares together with a single crochet. That was my experiment doing crochet with the help of this crochet site. Now trying to knit a doggie sweater for my friend's new 4lb. puppy. Never made a dog sweater before.

That is fantastic, it is good to try new things because usually you learn a little something everytime.

Becky,

For socks on circular needles check out Cat Bordi's book Socks Soar on Two Circular Needles.

I'm not convinced yet that it's faster than dpns but I'm really just getting started. I better like it since I spent quite a lot on three pairs of Addi Turbo circulars (which are the best, if you aren't familiar with them).

I also want to check out the method of doing two socks on two circular needles simultaneously. Perhaps this will help with my UFO problem (see above). <img src="/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Thanks for the suggestion of the book. A new knitting toy to buy! Did you teach yourself by reading it, or did someone help you? I've got a great resource in my local yarn shop, but I don't think they've ever offered a class on knitting socks with two circulars.

Glad to hear you like the Addi Turbos. I've seen them advertised, but hadn't tried them myself. I'm still using my trusty old Boye circular needle set (the ones where you screw different needle sizes onto nylon cords). At the last knitting class I took, some other participants were singing the praises of either wooden or bamboo circulars, particularly for loose knitters like myself. Again, I've got this great set (a present from my husband, no less), so it's hard to convince myself to invest in other needles. All of my dpns are bamboo, and while I HATE using dpns, I really like the feel of bamboo.

It's going to be wet here this weekend, so I'm looking forward to a good block of knitting time!

Happy weekend,
Becky

Here is a pretty good tutorial (I have not yet tried it) http://www.tata-tatao.to/knit/e-index.html I also have in my "to do" list that I want to try before putting up an article, How to knit two socks at once and I did buy from www.lacis.com the portuguese hook needles that have a sort of crochet hook on one end and a point on the other that is suppose to make knitting a sock super fast. I was told that these needles were used way back in history and that the portuguese still use them today for lace making.

I taught myself with the benefit of Cat Bordi's book. I was stuck at the gusset instructions (partly because I was working from my carry along copy of the instructions instead of the book which has photos - duh). I took the sock to meetup at my LYS. The owner said a few magic words and they were all I needed to move past the rough spot.

I like Boye products and I have Boye circs in larger sizes but I haven't really used them yet--their purchase was part of my knitting toy collecting habit . For the purpose of sock on circs, I bought a couple of other well known circs that didn't work as well as the Addis (NAYY). In fact, I was ready to give up. Then I bit the bullet and bought the Addis as Cat Bordi highly recommends them. You're sliding the stitches on and off the needle quite often and the join is as smooth as "buttah".

Enjoy your knitting weekend!

Eva,

Thanks for the links!

I'm embarassed to say that I posted a question at a Yahoo magic loop group tonight about online resources for 2 socks on 2 circs (2s2c) then promptly found this site -- Sheron's 2 Socks on 2 Circs. Oh well....
