Lion brand jiffy thick and quick beginners hat and scarf set is what I am working on. I have gotten to where you start to decrease and the pattern says, "Shape Top
Knit 2 rows for one ridge.
Decrease Row 1 (RS) (SKP, k 6, k2tog) 4 times, k 1  33 sts (8 sts decreased).
All WS Rows Knit.
Decrease Row 2 (SKP, k 4, k2tog) 4 times, k 1  25 sts.
Decrease Row 3 (SKP, k 2, k2tog) 4 times, k 1  17 sts.
Decrease Row 4 (SKP, k2tog) 4 times, k 1  9 sts.
Decrease Row 5 (K2tog) 4 times, k 1  5 sts."

Does this mean to SKP then knit 6 then knit 2 together 4 times and then knit 33 stitches? There are only 41 stitches on the needle... I don't think that would work out. OR does it mean to SKP, Knit 6, knit 2 together 4 times and that would equal 33 stitches. PLEASE HELP!

Daphne

Hi, The best way to figure it out is to count the stitches-

First skip a stitch, knit 6, knit 2 together times 4
so- skip+6+1 (K two together) = 8
skip+6+1 (K two together) = 8
skip+6+1 (K two together) = 8
skip+6+1 (K two together) = 8
Knit 1 = 1
Total = 33 stitches

So in answer to your question, the row goes like this:
Skip a stitch, knit the next 6 stitches, knit the next two stitches together. Now do the previous sentence 3 more times, and then at the end knit 1 stitch. That will make 33 stitches. <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
