Good question, "What's your strategy for picking yourself up when you're down?"
I find that I can't afford to wait until I get down to figure out how to pick myself up. Look what happened to Humpty Dumpy. I don't know about you, but I seem to need to find early morning time each day to be quiet and center myself. If I don't, everyone can see the difference (especially my husband;)).
Some mediate or take walks. I try to take time for prayer to be quiet and listen for angel messages. I bring my concerns and troubles to the table and ask for answers. I might not always get an immediate answer, but I always feel better having done it and know that somehow whatever the situation is will work out.
In addition to prayer, I also take time to read the Bible and an inspirational book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. There is always some gem I walk away with that helps me get through the day.
There is also a neat Website called
http://www.spirituality.com. It has many inspiring articles, which have helped me through difficult times. Hope that helps.
