Listen to an audio clip & sing along to a song that expresses flavor of WW2:

http://www.sovmusic.ru/e/top20.php

March of the Soviet Tankists (WW2):

Carl,

but I looked a bit closer into this website. It is made by some communists-Stalinists. It contains tones of songs about Stalin!

Jaga, it is impossible to have a collection of Soviet WWII songs without mentioning Stalin.

In fact, a couple of years ago, a monument to the war was opened in Moscow containing an image of Stalin.

Non-Stalinist song:

http://www.sovmusic.ru/e/list.php?category=rodina&part=4

My address - Soviet Union

Eric,

this is no good. Stalin was a criminal. There were also nice songs which Nazi sung in Germany - but somehow nobody thinks about building a monument to Hitler.

Carl, excellent choice! "My address is the Soviet Union" was an extremely popular song when it came out in the 1970s, and even today, many people still like it. The group "Samotsveti" still sings it whenever they appear on TV - it's probably their most popular song.

Like him, hate him, the fact remains that he was the leader of the USSR during WWII. But the reason why Stalin is still visible, and yet Hitler isn't - Germany was not only the aggressor, but also lost.

The Soviet Union certainly deserves respect for its triumph in the war, which cost the USSR dearly in terms of life, economy, industry, etc. It took decades to rebuild.

Eric,

you are right of course that Germany lost and Soviet Union won. Besides, Stalin strenghtened the empiral position of Soviet Union - but in the expense of many lives.
He was a criminal, there is no doubt about it - but he was a lucky one.
