I highly recommend the
Kensington Park Hotel to anyone visiting San Francisco. It is a block away from Union Square, and is the most charming and lovely hotel. For its location, the rooms are fairly reasonable (under $200) and it's a refreshing treat from some of the larger chain hotels.
There is a grand piano in the lobby, and each afternoon, complimentary tea and sherry is served. (There is also wine on Fridays and Saturdays.)
I think next time I visit, I may try to stay in a different neighborhood, just for a change of pace. But for anyone wanting to right in the middle of it, this is a great little hotel.
