I think this may be a time when you will need (hands-on) professioanl help to go blonde. Some hair has too much underlying red (even when you can't see it) that you are unable to get it to an attractive blonde with a single store-bought application.
Trying to do it at home can cause damage and breakage in your hair as well as result in very uneven color. You could end up with orange at the root area transitioning all the way to white blonde on the ends. -- Not very pretty.
