Lynn I have really long hair. Without a perm it would be below the middle of my back, almost reaching to my waist. I prefer to keep it permed because it suits my personality style. I tend to be a natural/romantic (I like comfortable natural selections with a compliment of romantic styles).

The problem is that it seems like it is almost impossible to find someone who can give a good perm for long hair. It always frizzes. The perm before this one was awesome!! No friz, beautiful perfect curls. That lady is out of commission due to surgery.

Anyway this perm is ok if I get out of the shower put a ton of gel on it and then don't touch it again. If I touch it, it looks frizzy. It's to the point that I'm actually thinking of cutting it all off into a bob. Even though I love having my long hair I'm thinking having it short might make it easier to care for.

What do you think? How the heck do I find someone I can trust? Remember too, that I have small children and no help with them so they pretty much go everywhere I go. I don't have a choice in that.

Hi Cheryl,
A bob would be easier -- but -- I don't consider it a romantic style. Would you be happy with it after the newness wore off? Or right away when you have a really different look?
I'm not really trying to talk you out of it. I love change, but not everybody does.
Another option it to just to take a few inches off your hair and maybe add long layers. That will take off any dry ends and help with the frizz situation.
I just went to see your picture. If you do cut your hair, I would suggest keeping it below chin level. It looks like you have a narrow chin and wide jaw bones. If a style ended there it would make your face look wide.

LOL You're right it's not a romantic style. I just get annoyed with it being so frizzy. Of course spending the Labor day picnic with the in-laws who always look so perfect didn't help at all.

I have been thinking about cutting it, but I don't think I really want to. I remember when it was short before I wanted it to just grow and grow. Now it doesn't need to grow and I don't think I should let a bad perm be the reason to make a decision I might cry about later.

I think I'll follow your suggestion and take off some of the length and add in some layers. It's funny but after I posted my question there was an article in our paper about the owner's of a local hair salon. It's long off topic story why they were in the paper in the first place, but they said in the article they don't mind if customers bring their kids. They actually encourage it.

It's not far from my house either so I think I'll check them out. Thanks for the advice.

LOL You're right too, short short hair makes my face look wide. Not attractive at all

You know Cheryl, for years I had the same hairstyle as you! I'll have to find one of my old pics and put it up. Anyway, I had chopped it all off when I had my son, then let it grow long again... then chopped it off again... my hubby wants my hair long (he's a romantic at heart) and I like it better long too. Sadly, with this pregnancy I can't perm my hair (bad idea) so i just have to grow it all out. My hair is really awful looking when it's straight though!
