My 8 year old daughter has the most fullest golden locks anyone would ever want. It's taken me nearly a year to hold her off from getting it cut. I finally gave in and let her go get it chopped off. It's cute, she's gorgeous, of course, but I so miss her long, beautiful hair. It's barely below her ears now. Fortunately for her, she looks good no matter what her hair looks like and has never taken a bad picture...must be nice! I know she didn't get those genes from me, lol.

Kids are sometimes pips! I would love some of their hair and they always want it to be different. But then, don't we all?

It's so hard to give up our "babies" and let them make decisions for themselves! Now she's becoming a young lady, deciding on her own hairstyle. I would still like to tell my daughter how I think she should wear her hair.--She's 29

Yeah, but the real kicker is she only wanted it cut short so she could brush it and go!
She's all girl with her fashion and "you won't catch me dead in sweats" and so forth, but when it comes to her hair, she would much rather shave her head bald than have it done...lmbo...of course, we didn't go that far but the main thing is that she loves it.

That's funny, I was getting letters from my great-aunt who is in her 80s and she still gripes about her mom cutting off her beautiful curly hair when she was young and making her have a boring short dutchboy haircut And I know that I personally was forced to get Dorothy Hamills when I was young and now I wear it long like I've always wanted, still in rebellion

You all are so funny. I always wore my hair long as a child until the 6th grade. I wanted it cut short.... did someone say Dorothy Hamill? That is exactly what I chose! Then I hated it! I went from having hair down to my waist to having what seemed like no hair at all in an instant. When I arrived home my dog barked at me! LOL I ran to my room and threw myself on the bed sobbing. In all honesty I did look a little like a boy. I didn't have much of a chest and my mom hadn't yet allowed me to start wearing makeup. I've tried it both long and short since and I think I look better in long hair.

This is so funny. I have 41 and 43 year old daughters and I wish they would cut their hair shorter to look more professional. They are both beautiful either way. I hate to tell you young women out there but you are never cured of motherhood!

This is so funny. I have 41 and 43 year old daughters and I wish they would cut their hair shorter to look more professional. 41 and 43 ! Now that you say that, I remember my mother not approving of my hair when I was well into adulthood. And of course I was supposed to be the expert. I used to (and still do sometimes) wear my hair long because I liked the feel of long hair. Definately not because it looked good. Ladies, remember that I have a forum at : http://www.communityzero.com/hairhelp although I will come here and post too.

I had long hair down to my knees as only trims (for dead-ends) were allowed by my Mom and Dad. At 17, when I left home for college, the first thing I did after moving into the dorm was to go to a barber shop!!!
The barber (lady) actually tried to convince me to cut it off in levels so I could "get used to it". But, I was in full rebellion mode and having none of that. She did finally cut it and SHE was in tears!
Now, some twenty years later, I am growing it back out long (now just below my shoulders) after years of buzz cuts, high and tights, punky spikes, and some other really awful attempts at stylishness!!! LOL - I guess the rebellion is FINALLY over, better call Mom and Dad.

P.S.: Now my 9 year old son wants blonde tips, an earring and, "Why can't I have a tattoo, Mom?" AAArrrrggghhhhh!!!!

I remember (revealing my age) when we couldn't get 9 year old boys to take of their baseball caps long enough to get a haircut and now they are browsing the style books and choosing what color they want!
