Last night (Aussie time) we decided our second Australian Idol.

The winner was a plus sized part Aboriginal beauty - Casey Donovan.

16-year old Casey is a size 14-16 and proud of it.

You can find some details HERE and I'll be putting an article up on the Australia site in the next 24 hours!

Go us Large & Lovelies!!! :music:

That is so wonderful, and such a great reflection on Australian culture.

14-16? That's plus size? I'd give my right arm to be that size! Dang! I used to be a 24 6 months ago. I got off of a certain type of medication that was adding some weight to me. I have also been getting my eating disorder under control. I am now a size 20. I haven't seen a size 14 in 7-8 years.

Tell me all about it! I've been over a size 20 for about 20 years now

Personally - I would actually say she's more towards the 16-18 size (Australian) than the smaller one.

However, Casey is extremely refreshing and her voice is absolutely gorgeous.

The girl's got TALENT!

The media has been referring to Liv Tyler(the elf in the LOTR movies) as plus size...Halston(maybe Calvin Klein?) and Johnny Depp dumped that Kate Moss woman when "she ballooned up to an 8" ...girls are putting themselves on diets before they are 10 because they think they are too fat. Society is nuts!

I'd have to agree with you Roni that society is nuts. I've been losing weight because I chose to do it, not because of what others think or thought of me. That's the least of my problems

My husband has often said that the bigger I get the better I think I look and while he is correct the fact still remains that when I see a young person that is not only heavy but inert I want to shake them.

I am losing weight; not because of my looks because I am quite an attractive fluffy woman BUT( and it is a sizable Butt), because my kness are killing me and going downstairs is almost impossible since I tore the meniscus in my left knee. I have been thru PT and yada yada blahblahblah..so to make a long story short(too late!) I have got to live a few more years and if this is happening at 57 what will I be doing at 98, like my Grammy, who was under this very table on her hands and kness picking up something she had dropped the last time she was here. It would require a forklift to fetch me if I went there. The really good news is that I can tie both my shoes w/o oxygen now..woohoooo! It would have been much simpler to have stayed under 200 pounds rather than fighting this battle at this weight. Keep up the good work! I gained nary a pound over the Holidays..it can be done! :rolling:
